Hi All, been away on holidays, drove the Eos to Yackandandah in north east Victoria, spent a few days there, went to a few wineries and micro breweries. Went for a drive up Falls Creek in the Victorian Alps. The bushfire devastation cannot be expressed in words. Great drive in the Eos though except when stuck behind trucks. And there was plenty of room to stow away our stash of wine and beer. Then flew to Perth, hired a Toyota Camry (Yuck , yuck and gutless) went on a cruise on the swan river, visited a few wineries in the Swan Valley. Saw only one Eos in Perth (near Barrack Street jetties). In fact not many convertibles in Perth. Too hot in summer and too wet in winter perhaps. (well according to some locals). Flew home to Melbourne then drove the Eos to Eden in NSW. It is just so nice there, NSW is a wonderful place (pity about the roads though). Went swimming and a fair bit, even though it is Autumn it is still very warm. Had a dozen Merimbula oysters everyday. Now we both have a convertible tan. The power of the Turbo petrol engine is very useful for overtaking through the mountains. And Eden to Melbourne on less than a tank of fuel. 7.2 litres per 100 k for the trip. And petrol was cheaper than diesel!

Sounds like a great holiday - shame you could take the EOS to Perth.

Having just got myself the Turbo Diesel, and knowing how the turbo'd torque kicks in, I'd be interested to know how the Petrol vs Diesel 'turbo kick' (if you know what I mean) compares.

What I'm trying to ask - if you need to be overtaking trucks on a short stretch of overtaking lane, would you prefer the torque of the diesel, or the high-rev range of the petrol?

(sorry if I'm hijacking your thread - im just curious if anybody knows)

I cant believe this petrol turbo engine, no turbo lag, heaps of torque and available from low RPM. I can even overtake in 6th Gear go up hills. (Although I mainly use 5th Gear for overtaking on the highway). This engine is so flexible that I don't need to rev it. But it does love to rev just the same. My wife has a TDI engine in her Golf and it is a great engine, but the TFSI is just amazing. BTW I have crossed the Nullabor 13 times in cars and it can only be desc ribed as the most boring drive on the planet. Thus the reason for air travel plus it works out cheaper in the long run!
