homelink addition

I have a '08 Lux and unfortunately it does not come with the homelink garage opener on the sunvisor, the only one that comes with that is the V6. Those anybody knows if it is possble to add the original homelink to my car or is something that has to be done when the car is built at the factory. Also any info on a separate homelink remote that can be attached to the sunvisor? I found one, but it is like 140.00dls and also there is a mirror with compass and homelink attached to it but I do not know if it will work with the Eos.

oempl.us web site sells the exact OEM homelink visor for Eos along with numerous other OEM Eos parts.
I thought of going that route as well as I have homelink in my Durango. However, I found that there are several keychain sized remotes for Liftmaster and Sears garage doors. One example is at http://www.aaaremotes.com/secrlichgado4.html I just keep the keychain remote in my driver side door pocket. Not quite as integrated, but it's a lot less expensive.
homelink is stupidly expensive
i have seen one, think it was herman doors, that fits in the cigarette lighter and has 2 buttons
looks great and only costs £40

Here's an even cheaper solution: I stuck my keyfob-sized remote on top of the rear view mirror with Blutak. The flash really exaggerates it, in normal driving conditions, with light coming through the windscreen, it's all but invisible. I suppose I could paint it black, but I don't think it's worth the trouble.

Interesting site. I almost fell off my couch when i saw their bicycle mount for the Eos ($820) plus you apparently have to also have a receiver hitch.
love to know how programmable this is as its cheapish and can take from car to car, just drop in the 12v socket

Thanks, I wonder if anybody has installed. The Eos Lux should have it already from the factory.

A neat solution, but according to their website, it operates at 868MHz only. If, like mine, your garage door has a different frequency, then it won't work.
Another neat solution: There is that little pocket underneath the center console next to the iPOD holder, my garage door remote fits in that spot just fine.

For any Australian members interested in this device, Homelink will not work in Australia as its frequency does not comply with local wireless device frequency allocations.

It also will not work with door openers that use a "rolling code" security system to foil thieves with scanners.
