New to this Forum. Be gentle with me.

Just bought a two year old TDi DSG Eos. Collecting it on Wednesday. When I test drove it it never stopped raining. There was a small leak from the top of the driver's door pillar when I started the test but it totally stopped shortly after I got going. Decided some water must have ingressed while I was preparing myself for the drive (door open etc).

Seen some of the threads on leaks and I am now a bit worried.:(

The car was a great drive with hood up, but haven't driven it with it down yet. I am anticipating a buzz with my top off.:D

Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't worry about that bit of water. It's a "feature" of the EOS - if opening the door when raining a little dribble seems to get in. There's no guttering on the roof you see. You'll also have your toes splashed if it's been standing in the rain for any period of time, as it tends to collect in the door sills too.

I'm sure you'll be equally as delighted with your purchase as most of us on here. You still have a full years warranty to sort out any issues if they arise, and despite what you read on here you'll find that MOST EOS don't leak.

Eosman,
I've now had my Eos 2 months today (new December 12th) & we've been through some pretty wet weather since then down here in Devon. For example, on Tuesday this week it started raining at about 03.00am & didn't stop for 24 hours. She is never garaged & has done a couple of long, high speed runs in the wet. So far, not a drop has entered the cockpit &, as far as I can see, nor the boot or spare wheel well.
By the sounds of it, you've still got a year's VW warranty so keep watching this site for other users' experiences with dealing with the dealers.
You'll enjoy the Eos!
Kind regards,
John.

Krytox

Many thanks for the reassurance regarding the roof (leaks).:D

I believe that some owners treat their roof seals with a product called Krytox on a regular basis (not just relying on the VW dealer doing it at the annual service).

Since my car will have just have had it's two year service prior to me taking ownership should I check that they have done this, or should I assume that it automatically included in the list of things to do?

Any information regarding this product, and application, would be much appreciated.

Competent specialist required

Many thanks Davey g. Seems to be a extremely comprehensive description of what needs doing to prevent leaks. Saved it to My Favourites for future reference.:)

I phoned my dealer to ask if they had lubed all the seals in it's two year service in preparation for my collection on Wednesday. Told that not all the seals were done, just the ones that are usually done during that service.

Is it possible to have this job done throughly by a competent specialist since I fear I would make a 'pig's ear' of it?:(

It's really not that hard. I use a 3mL syringe without needle and draw up some of of the Krytox. Take your time and put a little on the seals and rub it in with the finger. Most pharmacies would have the syringe as oral syringes are often used to administer meds to kids who can't take easily off a spoon. I lube mine about every 4-5 months just to stay ahead of it. It is a labor of love.
