When I first test drove a couple of eoss last year the brakes seemed quite powerful with just the lightest touch required.

My own eos brakes stop OK but seem to require a fair bit of foot pressure to stop quickly. Its not dangerous in any way but I'll get it checked out when she goes in soon to have the cruise fitted.

I just wondered if anyone else had experienced any brake issues. I did notice on another forum that some 3.2 eos owners were finding their brakes a bit 'spongy'.

I have the TFSI and found the same thing, great at first then they become much more soft. Seems like some form of brake fade which is gotten round by pressing the pedal once, releasing, and pressing again. It seems to increase the friction. looks like a case of 'could do better' in the design department.

I am 110% satisfied with the braking power of the eos.

It could be a time thing. Mine were extremely good the first few months of ownership but they gradually got worse. Of course its such a gradual change you don't notice the change till you need to break quickly and find them not as good as you thought.

I have the 2.0 TDI and I'm quite happy with brakes. Better than the brakes on my 2004 Golf I had which seemed to snatch a bit when driving slow so difficult to drive smoothly. Very happy with brakes on my Eos.

My brakes are much "softer" to touch than other cars...I know that each car is different, but this seems like you really have to press more than you should...
Ah Ha! (as alan partridge would say)
I'm not the only one. To be honest I am getting used to it now after three months, its not unsafe but just not as sharp as I would prefer.

The brakes on mine are excellent. Good solid pedal.

I find that when jumping from another car into my EOS I sometimes find the brakes a bit too powerful!
As lots of you are reporting that your brakes have become "softer" during ownership, I begin to suspect that there may be a problem with warping discs (rotors) emerging. This can lead to a problem known as pad "knock-back", the slightly warped disc literally knocks the pads and pistons back into the calipers, thus requiring a further push when first applied. Try braking once followed almost immediately (say 5 seconds) afterwards by another press, if the pedal pressure is firmer the second time, could be warped discs.

Cheers,
Pete

I initially found mine a little spongey and had to press down hard and swift at first, but I have got used to them now and they have managed to stop in time up until now!
Pete you star, you confirmed my thoughts on the subject lol

What would we do without input from guys like you, Pete? I could almost appear intelligent when I take my EOS in for service! Maybe that's a little too much too expect but the advice sure helps! Many thanks!
