Hello,

Newbie here - 1st post. Just took delivery of my 08 Eos 2 weeks ago and have been enjoying the ride very much. Noted some squeaks and rattling sounds coming from the back (think it's somewhere near the C pillars) initially. Brought it back to dealer and a quick fix was done. No more sound after, however recently I discovered the noise is slowly creeping back again (yes after 2 weeks!!) and thought that maybe it's about time to krytox the rubber seals.

Is there any posts/threads or discussion here that describes how to do it (with pics would be great)? Also, is it common to get the squeaks, creaks and rattle noises easily and frequently on the Eos?

My rims are stk le-mans 17". What is the recommended tyre pressure?

Thanks in advance and would appreciate fellow Eos advice.

Wld

Krytox

Just done mine and bought two bottles from the UK (50ml each) and came to just over £40 inc tax. Worked a treat! Makes the seals wet to the touch and has made the car squeak free. When you apply try not to get it on the paintwork as it takes ages to polish off.

Depends on your tyres - average should be about 36 PSI

Thanks once again.

By the way, sorry to bother again but I discovered 2 percularities recently and wonder if any of you here has experience this on your Eos -

1. There is a squeak sound coming from my passenger side door whenever the window goes back up after the door is closed. No sound was heard when you open the door, the glass window come down slightly but when you closed the door, the window goes back up and that's when the squeak sound comes on.

2. Rattling sound coming from the trunk. Discovered that whenever the hood for the CSC roof is in position (i.e. flat down), no sound was heard. But if it is retracted back to the top, rattling sound can be heard coming from the trunk.

Appreciate if anyone could offer advice on how to resolve the above problems. Thanks in advance.

Hi all.

I krytoxed my EOS yesterday using the GPL105. I was trying to solve squeaks coming from the sun roof (passengers' seat side). Applied with the roof position mentioned on VWVertex forums, left the roof down for about 3 hours and test drove it. The squeaks were still there. I thought that krytox need some time to be absorbed.

Today, the problem remains...

It's a 2007 TDI. Any advices?

Thanks!

I know this will probably be a question that has already been answered but is it acceptable to lubricate the roof seals during this cold weather or is it a waste of time and better left until things warm up.
Also on the subject is Krytox better than silicon lube and is it ok to use silicon instead of Krytox as it is considerably cheaper?

Yes, you can do it in the cold it wont make any difference, however if the seals are wet it is difficult to know when you have covered the seal or not. So do it when its dry anyway.
Never use silicone lubricants as a cheap alternative as it could cause degregation of the seals when it oxidises in the air, Krytox does not oxidise so does not cause any problems any way a little goes a very long way.

Too true, much easier to stop a problem forming than fix it once it's there. :) I treated the roof seals on my Eos last weekend. ;)
