Hi all,

I think I had a rush of blood to the wrong parts of my head, and didn't order iPOD prep. By the time I woke up, the car was actually here (as it came 2 months early). I have an iTrip, hence I think my original naff decision, but it's far from ideal, and doesn't look very cool at all

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of how easy it is to retro fit and a guestimate of cost?

It can be done, my demo came with six disc auto changer in the arm rest.I enquired if I could have the ipod prep and they said no, because it uses the same input and you cant have both.

But they did say i could have have the cd changer removed and ipod prep installed.

All in £250 sterling, im going to get it done.

I bought an original VW iPod adapter for around £70 on ebay and fitted it myself. I ran the cable through to the glove box where my Nano now lives.

I'm not all that good with fitting things like this, but found it very easy to do.

The adaptor looks interesting. Does the cord coming out of the "box" plug into a power port? Looking at a picture of the unit, it appears that the 3.5mm jack plugs into the "aux-in" and of course, the other plug connects to a iPod with nothing else plugged into anything. So, it would not be necessary to remove the radio in order to get this up and running.

Is the above correct? If so, it looks like just the ticket for me. Now, if I can only find one for sale in the US.

Have you got the x carlink adaptor, it looks good, it states you can use it with an existing autochanger.

Hi there, message to maxscience, I just read your thread as I need to hook up my ipod too but the website doesn't have an 'Eos' option for VW car choice?? Did you buy the Golf version? Thanks.;)

Hi there, I have the Dension gateway and its perfect no complaints at all. You can control your ipod on the wheel of the ipod or your multi function steering wheel or the radio head itself.......

I've had this fitted into my last three cars :)

Know how you feel Steph, had a rock (not a stone) hit my bonnet and couldn't walk past the car without checking the bloody dent! Got a guy from Dent Plus (local guy) to fix it, cost £10 but now no dent just the 3 nasty scratches acquired with it.

Thanks all for the info. I'm not very techy about such things (even though I'mnow a Head of IT!!!) but luckily I know a man who is, and may be spending some time with his head in my console!

Poor Steph, you must be gutted. I must say, the lack of rubbing strip or door stopper thingies did bother me.
