In the southern hemisphere at this time of year its is hard to imagine that you folk in the northern hemisphere are in the midst of winter. Yesterday it was so hot in Melbourne Australia (40 degrees C or 104 F) that it was best driving with the roof up and sun roof blind closed. The climate control did a fantastic job! On Monday it is even going to be hotter according to the weather forecast. So how cold is cold in Brentwood Essex?

You lucky things! Well it is 7 degrees C but feels like 3 degrees C in the wind, although I think that is a bit warmer than we would normally see this time of year. As long as I have my heated seats and the sunshine who cares!!!!

What great news - I'm not on my own, there are other silly Bu*gers out there, I was getting a bit paranoid as I was the only convertible owner with the top down (roof that is)!!.

We might even start a trend you never know.;) ;)

Well Foxylady, 7 degrees C is cold eh! Today is going to be 32 degrees C and the sun is shining so I am going for a drive along the beach, but come middle of the year when it is winter here I am sure you will have very many pleasant summer days in the UK so you can have your top down. Car that is LOL!

I think it's part of being British -all mad as hatters!!!! Let's face it, the weather here isn't the best so we have to make the most of what sunshine we have. Nothing beats getting the top down (roof that is ha ha!) ;)

I did read somewhere where the UK is the biggest convertible market in the world. When I was at a midday BBQ a few years ago there were some Brits there as well. It was a stinking hot day, what was really striking is that all the Aussies were in the shade and all the Brits were out in the hot midday sun. Needless to say the next day there were a few lobsters.

My most important accessory I have in my glovebox. Sunscreen SPF 30 +, although my wife has an olive complexion and doesn't need any.

32C, that is almost warm!
I was going to drive top down today but 41.5C was just too hot.
The air-con works pretty well though.
Temp is dropping to the mid 30s this week so I may have a chance of going topless!

Ianmarc,

That 41.5 C you had today is going to be here in Melbourne tomorrow and your are right about it getting too hot to have the top down. But I reckon a bit of night cruising might be the way to go though. It's 10:30 at night and still 25 C outside.

Hi Foxlady, I need to have gloves too so my hands don't get som sunburn't. Putting sunscreen on makes them all sticky which is a bit of a nuisance.

I am not sure that 42 C (107 F) with wind is ideal weather for cruising with the roof down, but hey I will give it a go on the way home from work this arvo, I am keen to see what the temp reading is from the Multifunction display. Adelaide and Melbourne are both having temps above 40 today, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth Darwin and Hobart in the high 20's or low 30's. After hearing about your weather I now may understand why my forebears left the UK decades ago!!!!

Hi Wendy, on the drive home from work the sun was shining and the temperature at one spot was 41 C but I did take a picture when it was 40 C. And I did have the roof off, I must be crazy.

Have a happy New Year:)

I thought the 41.5C we had yesterday was hot.
At about 4:30 this afternoon the outside temperature on the EOS MFD showed as 46C for a couple of minutes before dropping to 44!
The official maximum today was 42.
Tomorrow is forcast to be cooler (38C).

Leo, did you have your roof down at 46 C? I am almost envious of the 7 degrees C on SiJ2000 MFD

At 46C, no way would I have the roof down!I would be cooked to perfection in no time at all.
So far, my temperature for having the roof down is between 22 & 35C.
I may try cooler temps when I am dressed for the cooler weather.
