I was reversing round a corner and CRUNCH.... Now I have a very scratched up Chicago wheel with even a couple of little chunks missing out of it!!

OK... Maybe it's not quite that bad, but still very scratched, some an INCH into the wheel, so not even on the edge!!!

Sympathetic messages greatly appreciated!

Boo hoo, that's not fair!!! If its any consolation I did almost the same thing about 3 weeks into mine! I tried to clean it, buff it, almost replaced it....

Give yourself a sympathetic pat on the back from me, maybe even a hug?

Good night from down under...zzzzzzzzzzz

Gutted for you Simon mate, but the damage won't show while your driving it, and it won't make an bit of difference to the drive of the car so try to forget about it. Deepest Simpathy

Ouch, sorry to hear that, it's too easily done. I always try to park well away from the kerb (a bit anti-social, but prudent).

Me too but mistakes are inevitable - especially with 2 cars passing each other on a narrow road.

I've kerbed my nsf wheel but always tell the garage/tyre fitter to make sure that's always put back in the same position as that's the most vulnerable one. That way I keep 3 good wheels and 1 kerbed one!

Tried to share a tight driveway with a landscaper's truck. Missed the truck but not the curb.

Many refurb companies will not touch chicagos due to its finish - I emailed around about my one, but some do including one in tonbridge and one in surrey . . . it may take a while but you will find a company which can refurb it . . . cost approximately £65 which i think is well worth it as I was quoted nearly 600 quid for a new one. . . . ouch!

I know exactly how you feel because I've been there more than once. I do have a humorous story about wheel scrapes. A few years ago I was driving my wife's pristine Acura TL with fancy wheels and I did the same thing you did. It was a nasty scrape. I was afraid to tell her so I called around and found a replacement wheel (around $300) which I had installed on the car.

Then, about 2 months later, my wife comes home and tells me she put a nasty scrape on the SAME WHEEL! My first thought was that if I had done nothing about my scrape, I would have dodged the $300 bullet. I don't think she would have noticed my scrape until it came time to wash the car.

Some of the advise here is that over time this will fade from your memory. I DON'T think so. I also put a ding on one of my Mustang wheels (again at $300 a copy) and every time I drove that car until I traded it in for my Eos, I saw the scrape as I approached the car.

If you're not going to get your scrape fixed, my advise is to put the wheel on the non-driver's side so you won't see it as often.

I keep looking at the scrape in it annoys me, all because some idiot cut a blind corner and sent me into the curb. Oh well, these things happen I guess, just have to get it fixed; or I go to the local VW dealers during the night and put the front model on bricks lol! :D

chicago alloys - wheels approved - woodham, surrey

recently had two rear chicagos reparied by "wheels approved" in woodham surrey - excellent job they look better than new! for a total cost of repair and refitting /balancing £176 - they lent me spare alloys for a few days.

can recommend this workshop they appear to know what they are doing.
