After waiting 50 weeks for mine to arrive I have had it for 3 weeks and now I have scratched it!!!!! What a stupid thing to do - it was the end of a long day and I had been working late for weeks. I decided to lower the roof to keep awake on the way home - and YES there was something behind me. The reversing sensors stopped the roof but I thought my finger had slipped on the button and I started it again - Ouch! - READ THE MANUAL - it will over-ride this safety feature - please be careful.

The VW rubber seal lubricant is fantastic but very expensive - it makes the doors so much easier to close and stopped a slight creak in the sunroof.

And those Xenons - especially the extra cornering lights - are brilliant.

Another word of warning - do not use the windscreen wiper washers if you have the Xenon's with washers with the roof down and stopped - the headlight washers will end up washing the back seat.

What a great car!

Had mine 12 days when it got bumped!!

My darling EOS was parked in the car park at work when a woman reversed into it and then drove off! Fortunately I knew who it was so when contacted she denied all knowledge despite half a dozen people in the building hearing the bump and she set the alarm off!?

She refused to give me any details, car reg etc so the police are now involved! Insurance company sorting out the repair and reclaiming costs but needless to say I wasn't a happy bunny, although I managed to last the day before bursting into tears "I know it's only a lump of metal and no-one was injured but it's my new lump of metal!"

EOS in today for new bumper and parking sensors (as one was damaged) and I am driving a 1.2 Polo for the day.

Have reassured Daisy that I still love her and she'll soon be as good as new!

Following up on comments about scuffing alloys, be careful when parking if yuo have Chicago alloy wheels. Although the wheels look great the tyres are very thin and offer little/no protection if parallel parking against a curb. I have got a couple of marks on mine but now extra careful and don't risk trying to nip into a space quickly but take my time.
Other than that really enjoying my Eos. :)

Following up from my bump and repair....

Got a call late yesterday afternoon to say the vw dealer repairing the bumper was having a few 'issues' with colour matching the new bumper to the rest of the car and so have had to keep it overnight! Rather bemused by that: VW car, VW colour, VW paintshop??!! I'm sure someone will let me know it's quite normal and not to worry - hopefully:confused:

That's hard to understand, Sue. Think you should enquire why! I have an Eismeer Blue EOS, purchased a spoiler through Ebay, quoted them the paint code, and it was PERFECT match. So .......... can't see why a VW dealer can't do the same?

You all have my sympathies too, as well as my understanding.

I've had the car for 6 months, and was stopped at a red light (had been stopped for around 20 seconds).

Wham. Rear-ended by a white Nissan minivan. Top was down, beautiful day, and it was my birthday so was on the way to my party after picking up my older sister.

Lady had an out-of-country international drivers license, and was driving with insurance that had expired the day before.

She tried to refuse giving me the paperwork too, wanted to pay for the damages and didn't want to give me her information.

I was on the phone to the police so quick, I think there is still a mark from where the cel phone hit my ear.

She tried to get back into her car and close the door, however, I grabbed the door and held it open. She finally gave me the paperwork-- out of fear, I think-- and that's when I realized she was uninsured.

<sigh>

I have to wait until July 30 to get the back bumper fixed. VW doesn't have body shops around here, so they recommended the Chrysler dealership next door that handles their body work.

<cry>

Anyway, I'll let you all know what happens, however, I guarantee that she will be responsible for the damage and not I. I was, after all, stopped at the red light.

I had dinner at canters in Los angeles the other day, cam eback to my eos to find the driver side mirror broken off and hanging by the motor wire. its seems like someone was squeezing by and busted the lamp, as there re no blunt marks along the trim. going to VW tomorrow.. lets see how much this costs me..

Hi, first time poster, having had the EOS for just about a week.

And guess what? Chicago alloy quite badly scuffed when parking. Can anyone tell me how feasible it is to get this repaired, and if so how?

Or is it inevitable that you need to buy a new wheel instead to make it look as good as new?

Cheers

Regarding archiea's misfortune - two weeks after receiving my Eos, inadvertantly discovered that the side mirrors have power retraction even tho manual doesn't show it and salesman previously said it wasn't available. I had manually folded in the drivers' side mirror at night and forgotten to unfold it in morning when opening and closing door to get in. Then noticed mirror was hanging at obtuse angle and no longer would hold at any position, just wiggled all over when driving. Immediately went to dealer, mechanic came out and said I have power folding mirrors which he then switched back and forth to reseat it. My salesman came out and was as surprised as me.

Upshot is I now power fold them in whenever I park in my own or commercial garage, better safe than sorry. Of course even if you don't have power you can always manually fold them in.

Will they have to replace your entire mirror, or just some of the mounting hardware? Hope it's not too expensive, as this could be a frequent injury to us all.
