Sounds like a bummer! Let us know if your dealer is able to get the smell out. Almost nothing worse than that damp odor. I once got rid of a car because I couldn't get the musty smell out of it.

Hey my leak problems started with a stinky car!! I had my car hauled in to VW and they fixed it within a few days. The seals were leaking into the boot apparently hence wet carpet and mouldy smell in the car. Luckily with it all fixed the smell has gone although if the smell did remain after fixing I would insist on the carpets being replaced. Should be covered by warranty I think?

Hope you get it sorted.

The car is booked in on 12th - all under warranty :D It seems to be the drivers footwell, which is soaking and footwell behind. Passenger side seems dry. Boot is dry too.

Hopefully it won't take too long to sort out.

Have you seen the various Eos clips on Youtube? Eos meets in Greece etc?

well, VW called today. They still haven't found the cause of the water inside the car. Asked me lots of questions and then said they would do another water test and call me back. I don't think I'll be seeing my car back this week.:(

Hope they sort yours quicker than mine, lost mine for 8 weeks while they replaced every bit of rubber on the roof/windscreen frame/boot lid, twice! Water tight now though.

The vibe I got is that the retailers dont really get much support from VW on the water leak issue, plus as the rubber seals are constantly being revised in order to combat this ongoing problem, nothing is kept in stock.

My car spent most of its time sat in the carpark waiting for parts.

Mind you I had a blast trying out all the loan cars! The jetta diesel was nice (fully loaded). The golf estate was great when I had to move loads of stuff to the tip. And the tiguan was a pleasure to use, my wife wanted to keep it! That saw a few dirt tracks I must admit, he he he he!

Hi there... A explained in other postings, after few months with fog inside the front windscreen in humid morning or late evenings, I started smelling sort of a "wet-dog" flavour inside my favourite car... Did not truly pay attention, until I dropped some cloth on the floor and it was soaked.. Took car to VW, they kept it a whole week long, idenitied a leak in between the left side of the FRONT windscreen and the left front door. What was apparently misleading, is that they first spotted water beneath front carpets, thern tracked it to flow from the rear of the car beneath the carpetry, but later found out the actual leak was in the front, with water flowing front to rear then back to front... No documentation of the issue... The however clealry stated they replaced some joints/seals and adjusted window settings. If of any help... The VW garage of mine is in France... if Your dealer speaks French and wants to contact them, send me a private message to get details..
good luck to you! My car is now 'almost' better than new, as they also replaced some minor parts to improve overall quality ... Yet it does 'crack' a lot more in cold mornings when driving on holes or bumps.. Likely too tight seals now...

Thank you!

Hi all

Thanks for your good wishes! Well, they called back and said that they had identified 4 leaks - I asked where but as I was talking to a lady in service she said that the engineer had not specified. Unfortunately, one of the parts they need has to be ordered from Germany and isn't expected to arrive until sometime in February! :( They said they would rebuild my car (apparently got no seats in and lots of interior stripped out) so that I could have it back but I said no point - I'll just keep the courtesy car (tiny Polo with tiny engine :( ) until such time as I can have it back fully repaired. She also said that they only have 1 engineer that works on the Eos and he was working between 2 cars at the mo. Do you think they must hate the Eos by now with the various leak problems?

She also said that they are replacing the carpet and underlay - so hopefully will get it back as good as new :D

To make things a little sweeter while your waiting, tell your retailer "There's no way i'm going to drive round in a shopping car for weeks while you wait for parts, I'll take your Tiguan please!", worked for me. As soon as it came back in they gave it to me.

Also you should be able to wangle some compensation from VW UK for your trouble, again worked for me but they had mine for 8 weeks. Worth a try though, just say your loosing faith in the brand and that you need a little something to help you "forget" the ordeal and restore the perceived expectation in the VW name" etc etc. You get the idea.

Agree with Jamesboy there, say you have several important meetings coming up and can not possibly turn up in a Polo!!!

Update....sort of

Called VW today as they have had my car since 12th Jan. The part they are waiting for is a "modified part" which are still in the process of being made. They are not expecting to receive the part until sometime in mid Feb. The guy I spoke to said there are loads of Eos' with problems!

I just read another post from someone who said their car is leaking and the car smells like cat wee.... that is EXACTLY the smell my car has/had!

Maybe your carpet is being made in Germany like mine and shipped over later this month. I've been told by my dealer that the carpet should be with them by the end of this month. Not good enough, they've had my car since 24 Jan, so only two weeks behind you!

Are you sure they make the carpets in Wolfsburg?
Wolfsburg is where they put many VWs together (not the Eos of course, which is assembled in Portugal) but most parts like that are brought in from sub-contractors. I'd be very surprised if Eos carpets aren't made in China and shipped to Portugal to be fitted.

It's not the carpet I'm waiting for but a modified part which will hopefully prevent further leaks. I should find out exactly what the part is! I will need new carpet though.

Called VW for progress report today. No progress:mad: They still don't know when "the part" will arrive - could be next week or week after??? Checked that they do have the carpet - and this is available (so I don't have Dolallygirls problem). Apparently one of the leaks is a windscreen seal.

I've asked if I can have something nicer to drive in the meantime and they'll let me know early next week.

Been 6 weeks now.....:(

No but in all seriousness... how much do you want for the carpet??!

Ice on carpets & mats frozen

I can only sympathise with you as you seem to be having the same problem as i have had. Mine was actually the windscreen freezing and heavy condensation and one known leak to me. My car has actually been in the dealers a total of four times and about at least 7 weeks in total. I think they have now replaced all the seals in the roof at least once if not twice on one of them and in boot and the back quarter windows. I have also had new carpet in the car itself - not actually sure about boot. Have had car back just over a week and am waiting for some icy/damp conditions to see if it has at last been fixed. So keeping everything crossed if not do not know what steps to take next as if it has not been fixed after four times and two separate dealers where do I go from here.

You only need to give them 3 attempts to fix the same problem and if they still can't then you can reject the car and demand your money back. Believe me, I've done it with a Focus CC3 convertible and it took 6 months and a LOT of stressing out  but I thought I was happier with my Eos. It now appears not! lol

Here's hoping they HAVE fixed your car once and for all. As it's only the second time mine's been in I'm hoping not to have to go back again or else I WILL be getting a refund and starting again!
