Don't know if this is a stupid question but are there 2 indented lines on the boot lid? I've just noticed these and it looks like the boot lid is damaged although the paintwork is OK? I'm sure I would have noticed these before??

Yes, we all have them!

Well, I'm assuming you are referring to the ones that are meant to be there (evenly spaced straight lines either side of the boot lid).

It's odd, though, I didn't notice them until about Day 7, and they surprised me as well !!!

Well I don't like them!

Isn't that strange? The number of times I've opened the boot and not noticed them....it was just the way the light caught the top I s'pose. I'd started to think that there must be something wrong with the boot opening when the top is opening which had caused the lid to crumple!

I think they look odd!

I noticed them as well. If you lift the boot (trunk lid) slightly they are more obvious. Guess it's a styling thing.
Also the lid is plastic, so could be to strengthen the lid to try to stop it deflecting so much.
There that proves i'm an old engineer - doh.

Thank you!

Well, thank you both for putting my mind at rest. :D I'd started to get a knot in my stomach thinking that the car was damaged  I keep going outside to look at them now and see that they pretty much match the design on the bonnet

Still don't like them....

Every EOS has twin pipes. It's just that VW decided to hide ours (TDI) behind the bumper. Have a look underneath & the are there.
It's odd as the same engine in the Audi A4 has very nice set of twin pipes - one either side.
Does make the back of the car cleaner looking though. But not as sporty.
Go figure.

No fair!

I was waiting at the local VW dealer to collect my husband's Passat (which was on it's 3rd turbo!!) when I noticed a lady collecting her Eos - it was a Black one and it was then that I noticed the shiny twin exhausts which I thought looked really good! Went to look at mine thinking that I just hadn't noticed them before and they weren't there

Twin exhausts could be done for the TDI but the TDI will always produce a little soot (will not be shiny) therefore its easy to hide the exhausts underneath.

Subtle touch

Yes the lines are there ... a beautiful subtle touch. But I do think they have a stiffening and a clearance function.

Those who don't like the ridges on the Eos trunk probably won't like the lines on the C70. All there are mainly styling cues that also may structurally help and also add to trunk space. Look at the 7 series BMW during the last major restyle a few years back. Ugly but functional.
