Well, the plot thickens.........told by the dealer that there was a problem when they did a diagnostic on it but before rebooking it in after VW UK had come back to them with next steps, they asked me to try different "pre-4th generation" ipods in it which I did but none worked. The dealer now has it as of today and I await their feedback.............

ipod connector

Hi,I have had 2 VW Ipod connectors stop working in 12 months. The local dealer in Sydney told me that can happen! They replaced the first under warranty then when less than 6 months later it stopped working, they said they would have to "get one in". I decided to buy a Connects2 on Ebay & connected it myself.It's great & lets me control the radio from the ipod. I then bought a 120Gb Classic & have loaded it with songs in many playlists & also music videos.Obviously it doesn't come up on the head unit screen but otherwise all is good. Regards, Mark. PS I had to buy the unit from England!

ipod connector now fixed. The dealer was good. Benfield in Morpeth Northumnberland, but they did have the car three days. They ended up replacing the ipod connector unit and the radio !! All well now:)
