still playing the Eos waiting game, with questions cropping up in my head about the car all the time, the latest one is concerning the ipod port. does the port adapt to all ipods or just a certain model? I ask as I have an older ipod that is quite a bit larger than the more recent ones, also I will have a couple of teenagers with me quite often and they both have more up to date ipods than myself.

My wife's car has the armrest adapter, but she never uses it. My daughter has an original i Pod (whatever that is) and it fits fine.
There were some adapters that came with it for various models so I am sure your will fit OK.

Yep - they should all fit - you get a handful of adaptors that should enable all iPods to be plugged in - haven't heard anyone have problems! Mine's a 2 year old nano, and it works just fine! You'll love the quality if you've only heard it on earphones or even on an FM transmitter - its pretty good!

Cheers

Hi Denny,

The iPod with the Dynaudio sounds awesome. Volume can be painfull on the ears if you pump it up. No distortion though.

Only let down is that the ID Tags from the mp3's are not displayed. If you have lots of tracks on your iPod, you need a bloody good memory to know where to find the tracks your looking for.

Oh, and a hint. Try running on Super Unleaded now and again and you'll see a difference in performance. I use it all the time now. To hell with the cost. If I wanted economy, I'd of bought the TDI.

hi hornet9
thanks for that, have heard a few say that the sounds are good, but have also heard that you cant crank it up too much, seems that good overrides all other opinions by majority, excellent.
bit of a bum on the id tags not showing, wonder if there is a way to programme it??? just a thought. will have to find my fav driving tunes and make seperate file as have a dire memory not helped by the fact ipod is usually put on shuffle mode, so never sure of play order.
yep i will go for the super unleaded thanks, again i have heard a few recommend this. and i go along with your ethos she deserves the best!!
thanks for your help and suggestions they were much appreciated

I hear the new iPHONE doesn't fit with the adapters provided and sticks up above the top of the surround. Of course, for anyone outside of the USA (like me) this doesn't matter since we can't get the thing yet. ;)

Apparently, it is a little thin for some connectors and a little fat for others. It does work if you take the closest one but it wobbles a little. Some people, according to the pictures I've seen, have padded it with things to keep it stable.

ipod - my thoughts

Hi - My 2007 USA Eos works great with my Video Ipod 30 GB, the opening in the console is big enough for 2G, 3G, and Video Ipods and all the smaller iPODs - pretty much any iPOD with the Apple Dock Connector. Can't say on the iPHONE - have never seen one to know if it use the Dock Connector like iPODs do.

There is a adapter that is a simple divider that holds the wide iPods to one side of the big slot so it is stable vertically. There are 2 other adapters included one is for the narrower iPODs such as the Nano, I am not sure what the 3rd one is for.

Only gripe I have is that the factory 6 CD Radio does not display the song information, only the relative track # in the playlist you are listening to. But the sound quality is good and you can access the first 5 playlists you create in iTunes. It takes over the External CD changer and you pick from the playlists by selecting external CD 1-5, choosing 6 plays the whole iPOD song list.

Yeah I got mine working and it sounds great, especially with the Dynaudio kit.

Agreed not having the track listing is a real pain, the other issue I have (and it could be related to the fact that I'm using a three-four year old iPod with a knackered battery) is that when I go back to the car the stereo remembers which song I was last playing but not which playlist it was in - instead it always defaults to the same song in playlist 6 (i.e. all songs on the iPod.)

Does everyone else get this or is it my rubbish 3rd gen iPod???

That is standard functionality (if you can call it that), it always defaults to playlist 6 when you have switched off the ignition.

Hi guys, still waiting for mine to arrive but can I just ask...

Agreed, no song names is a pain but all how I like my ipod to work is to just have it playing all songs in a random fashion. So is this what playlist 6 does if the ipod is already set to "random/songs"??

I dont have any other playlists present on the ipod you see.

Yeah playlist 6 is all songs, and if you press MIX on the stereo it will shuffle songs for you.

To be honest thats what I mainly use, although being the sad music geek I am, I've designed 5 other playlists to represent the different types of music that I like!
