By the end of the week, I should have my beloved EOS!!

I am so excited, I may need to seek medical attention!!!!

This forum is cool, but it's no match for actually having the keys in my hand!!

All that carrying on, you'd think you had something else in your hand.

Congratulations in advance!! (For the record, that's a premature exclamation.)

My EOS has arrived at the dealer

I have just received a call from the dealer to let me know that my EOS has arrived. It's just a matter of getting it registered for September 1st now. I ordered it on May 11th so it's taken less than the 16 weeks quoted. The dealer ordered 3 EOSes on the same day, and that may have helped.

Do you actually have to wait untill the first of the month? Seems cruel.

Here (in the US) in my state (Massachusetts) one can place the plates (tags) on the new car and drive off! The paperwork is carried out later. So cool!!

The wait would kill me

Actually no, we don't have to wait at all if we don't want to.

But GB registration plates are age-related; you can identify how old a car is by the regular plates and they change twice a year, on 1st March and 1st September. Of course if it's nearly plate-change time then it's sensible to wait for the new one as it's then worth more come resale time (and you have the latest plate to show the Joneses!).

Since the new plates ('57' they will read as opposed to the current '07') are here in under 2 weeks it's sensible to wait.

Even though this doesn't apply if you have 'personal' plates people still wait as when the car is eventually sold it gets regular plates again so it's better to have a later one than an earlier one!

You're a better person than me.... I couldn't wait! Mine coming today and is a 07, although I have private plates on it, so doesn't really matter!

Except that come sale time an '07' will be worth about 700 Pounds less than a '57'... Unless, that is, you keep it for so long that it makes almost no difference (5-6 years or more).

You pays your money and takes your choice...

Been to dealer to take a look at my EOS.

I took a trip to the dealer to see my EOS this afternoon. It was still coated in the white plastic film but I checked that the spec was correct. One thing that I noticed was that one electrically folding door mirror was folded backwards and was loose. The salesman said it only needed adjustment and I am hoping that the mirror wasn't damaged in transit.

I have had to put my personal plate on retention in order to stand a chance of getting the EOS on the road for September 1st. There is a slight problem though - I took the form to Shrewsbury DVLA office, hoping to get an old number registered to my existing car but they wouldn't process it there and then and it could take 10 days. Yet another obstacle!

Mine took 1 week to transfer.... But that's because I hassled the local DVLA office relentlessly!!! I did pretty much everything outside of chaining myself to the desk! ;)

It worked though... I had the paperwork back at the dealer before they got back ones they sent in before it!!!
