Hi,

I've just ordered my new silver/black Eos and am faced with a 12 week wait before I can start enjoying it. Have driven a Passat for 10 years and flirted with getting another before deciding that the Eos was a more fun option.

Glad to be a member of the site - I've already picked up lots of useful info. One negative is the posts re leaks - although it's difficult to gauge how prevalent these problems are. I'm hoping that buying now - the initial seal problems will have been largely ironed out. It also seems prudent to lube every 6 months or so? Any advice would be welcome.

Welcome firstly.

Secondly I'd just like to say that as a driver with a leaky car that despite the leaks I would STILL recommend getting one of these cars! :)

The leaks were fixed and are prevalently found on earlier cars as you have already picked up. Keep the seals lubed (as recommended in the handbook/online etc) and you shouldn't have any problems. There is info on where to get the lube in previous posts. Search and ye shall find! :p

I've only had my EOS for 6 weeks, however, Southern Maryland has seen it's share of rain in that time. No leaks at all. I'm of the opinion (limited experience) that the roof seal problems were fixed in late 08 and all 09 models. Lubing the seals as a preventative measure would be advisable, as with any rubber seal exposed to the weather. Life's too short to worry about the little things. Enjoy the car.

Thanks

Many thanks to you all for your responses - very reassuring.

By the way Mark, I thought the leaks problem was caused by driving in the rain. Driving too close to the sun apparently causes both wings to fall off ;)

Welcome & enjoy the forum Icarus.

As mentioned by Dan. I've had my '09 Eos for 5 weeks now and although it hasn't seen much rain, the little it has, has been a couple of thunderstorms. The seals remained intact and suffered no leaks. I've even used a pressure washer to clean it (very carefully) and there are still no leaks.
