Hello everyone,

I will be starting a lease on a new Eos soon and am not sure if I should go with the Komfort or the Lux. Can anyone help me decide if the extra 2-3 grand is worth it for the Lux? The VW website gives some information on the differences, but I would like personal opinions from current owners. Thanks for your help!!!

Cousinjenn,
In the UK at least, & maybe the rest of Europe, the diffrentiation & model names are different from the US so I'm not sure what comes with a Komfort or Lux model. Can you describe the options available & maybe we Eos owners on this side of the "Pond" may be able to help. However, there seem to be quite a few active members in your neck of the woods who may be able to offer advice.

Hi John,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have conflicting spec comparisons from the VW website.

When I click on the "compare trims" on the Eos page, it tells me the Lux has everything that the Komfort does plus the following: dual zone Climatronic climate control, 12-way power driver's & passenger's seat with power lumbar support and easy entry, front heatable seats, multi function trip computer, heated washer nozzles, center console and footwell ambiant lighting, premium 8 speaker sound system with in dash MP3 compatible, 6-disc cd changer, aux input and satellite radio, 17" Sienna alloys, walnut interior trim, self dimming reaview mirror, leather multi-function steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, power folding side mirrors, auto headlights with "coming home" feature.

However, when I look at the specification overview from their website, which is a pdf that looks like it is a print brochure, it states the only differences are the power folding mirrors, size of wheels (which almost all Komforts are upgraded to 17"), the multi function trip computer, passenger power seat (drivers is power in both trims), multi-function steering wheel, and leather seats rather than the V-Tex in the Komfort.

Also - does anyone know what the "coming home" feature on the headlights is? I am just curious!

Thanks so much! I can't wait to get my Eos!!!!!!

Look again at the options. The lux comes with the DSG standard and the 12 way power seats for driver and passenger. The Climatronic system is standard on the lux. The better stereo is only available on the lux. Vw options lists are notorius for errors. What it boils down to is what do you want. If you are leasing and don't care for the extra goodies, get the Komfort. My advice is go to a dealer and physically check out the differences. Take both for a drive. You live in Ohio where it can get cold in winter. You might like the heated seats, but they only come on a Lux with leather. If you want a manual transmission, it is only available on the Komfort. I ordered my 07 with most of the bells and whistles and haven't regretted it. Get what you need and what you can afford. Just decide before you sign. The cominghome feature lights up the side mirrors and the rest of the lights for a short time so you can enter or exit the car at night.

Coming home feature on the headlights is when you close the door and lock the door the headlights stay on (if it is dark out) for a programmable amt of time (ie: 10 seconds) to light your way. I have the Lux. I own it and did not lease it. I wanted Park Distance Control which was available standard in 2008 on the Lux. That feature I thought would assure that I wouldn't accidentally put down the top and smack the trunk lid into something that was too close.....I actually saw a smashed trunk in a showroom where the salesman put down the top, not realizing a coffee table was right behind the car -- put a nice crease in an otherwise nice looking red Eos! I like very much the multifunction wheel and the heated seats with 5 settings are great! "5" is quite powerful!!!! My wife can't drive a manual transmission so the DSG was a must. I haven't regretted it at all!!!!! Plus I personally really like the Sienna wheels that came with it. Check out my photos in the photo section.

...oh, and the Dynaudio is awesome! I think in 2008 you could get Dynaudio on Komfort OR Lux. For 2009, only avail inthe Lux. Again, I went fully loaded b/c I plan on keeping the car a long time and decided to splurge!

When I was shopping the models, the extra money more than paid for the extra features. I used other car companies that offer items a la carte for a price comparison.

The one thing I thought was silly, but has proven to be one of my favorite features is the auto-dimming rear mirror. It surprised me how efficient it is and I have always hated the 'bendable' rear mirrors I've had in other cars.

Thank you so much for all of your help! The Komfort does come with heated seats included, I do know that and wouldn't buy a car without them!!! The Komfort that I test drove had them and I kicked it up to 5 - Darren you are absolutely right, the 5 is quite toasty! The Komfort I was looking at had the 17" wheels along with the auto DSG tranny - so I guess the major differences are the lights, rearview mirror (I agree with you Mark - when I got this on my CX-7 I thought it was no biggie but I really enjoy it), power folding mirrors and multifunction steering wheel. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

Again, thank you so much for your help. I have never actually followed a forum before, but i have been reading this one for a month now, as my Eos ownership nears. I can't wait to join the rest of you!
