Careful when backing up. Usually if someone is behind at night you expect to see their lights. You won't if they are close behind the EOS because the view from the EOS rear window is rather high. Don't depend on the mirrors - doing so led to my first crunch. Bumper scratches and a small hole but very irritating,

Do you have rear parking sensors fitted?

Sensors

Sensors are an option in Canada. Even so their limited sensitivity distance (20 cm?) would not have been adequate. The turn around and look option would be the only way to have avoided the accident. Lesson ... don't depend on the Eos rear view mirror to determine what is behind you.

Wouldn't count on the parking sensors or the view out of the back either.
If you have other obstructions at the side, you'll be merrily reversing noting that you seen the problem, however, you'll miss the low wall behind you which will mark your bumper....

I've found the rear sensors do pick up obstruction at the side fine. They also detect small walls and kerbs so you don't reverse into little walls you can't see. Unless you choose to ignore the beeping. I personally find them excellent in the Eos. (Have not tried other cars with them though). With the poor visibility to the rear with the Eos I think they are essential, especially for me one of the worlds worst reversers.

Agree Graham. I couldn't manage without them and can't for the life of me think why they're not standard everywhere. They certainly should be. Must be a severe case of penny-pinching!

My park sensor flatlines at 300 mm (1ft) the same as my Discovery3. They are effective even picking items off to the side.:)
I hate driving cars without sensors.:(

sensors

Put a kid on a tricycle 6 feet behind the car ... can't see the kid in the rear view mirror ... do the sensors pick the trike and kid up?

Can answer that one, no small kids at home therefore no tricycles. The sensors always pick up when the dogs run behind the car and they are roughly kid sized.

My dealer just installed the "official sensors" but how do I check if they really are the official ones rather than cheap aftermarket sensors? I could try to park the eos near an obstacle and open the roof, the sensor should block the process, but I don't want to risk...
