Well I opted for long life as I do around 15k miles a year. It will be 12 months on 1st July and my dash is displaying 'service in 600 miles' and Ive only done 14k.

So rang my dealer who said Oh you can ignore that its 19k or 2 years. Thought that's weird so rang another dealer who said that the warning was probably set for 12 months at the PDI stage so I should bring it in at 12 months. But I thought it was 2 years I said, sometimes its set to 12 months he said.

No doubt If I ring another dealer I'll get a different story. I'm sure they just say the first thing that comes into their head.

Anyone shed any light on the correct thing to do?

Cheers, David

Hubbie has this on his passatt and its definatly something set in the computer, take it into the garage and get them to check what the settings are. Telling you to ignore what the car is telling you is a bad idea as there usually much more intelligent then people give them credit for.

I opted for the long life service as well but only do about 7k a year, service warning came up at about the 1y stage so its about time and driving habits i think.
Its annoying having the service indicator flashing at you so I put mine in just to shut it up. As Cambourne7 says go with what the car is telling you.

with my last car (ford focus) i went to my garage when they were quiet and i asked them to walk me though how to look after my car, checking oil, wheel pressure etc.

I fully expect to do the same when i get the eos getting to know your car and the garage and build up the trust is as much of the car owner experiance as buying the car itself.

Our previous car was badly treated by a crapy garage which brought the car to a premature end so i learnt this lesson the hard way.

Even if I didn't get it services for 2 years, I would still get the oil changed after 1 year... Not 100% necessary with the long life, but it's just the way I like to do it... Sometimes, I'll even suck out a few litres after 6 months and put in some fresh to dilute!
