hi everyone,

i am looking to buy an Eos for my daughter. i have read some stuff on the internet and there seems to be issues with interior condensation, leaks, and interior windshield being in frozen state.

Do most of these problems only involve 2006's & 2007's? Are 2008's and up better?

Would appreciate if someone could provide me with their experiences and insight.

Much appreciated.

My short take on the topic is that not all 2006-2008 models leak but that there were some improvements made for 2009 with regard to the seals. No matter what year one owns, some periodic lubrication of the seals is critical to maintain their supple nature. Search Krytox on this forum and you'll read all about it. Whenever anyone asks me about owning an Eos, I remind them that this is not the kind of car you can just drive and drive and drive....there is some labor involved, but it is a labor of love. For people who enjoy cars this is a GREAT car.

I agree with Darren whole heartedly.

Unless you and your daughter are into regular maintenance for your cars, any Eos older than 2009 is going to be a little added work.

The 2009 no longer has a timing belt so there is no worry there plus all the seals have been improved significantly.

I believe the 2009 and up would be a good choice.

It's really easy to tell - if your 2.0 turbo motor has its oil filter on top, it's what we call a TSI in the States. It has a timing chain. Not sure if the motor's called another name elsewhere in the world. Depending on which model VW, it was rolled out mid-2008 through 2009 as David's mentioned. Lots of other improvements besides the chain.
