hiya, I wonder if anyone can help me.. i havent been on this forum for ages, and although I ahve had a quick, i havent seen a thread that is about this type of leak.
... anyway, I ahve noticed for a loooong time that my car has been smelling! sometimes it has even smelt of cat wee... yuckkkeee.. anyway, there had been a problem with the passenger window, and the dealer felt this was the cause of the problem.. anyhow, on Saturday, I picked up my scarf which had fallen on the floor behind the drivers seat to find it soaking. I had a closer look only to find the carpet is moulding and absolutely sodden. I phoned up VW immediaetly, but havent had a call back yet.. grrrrr!!
anyone else come across this???

Hi, sorry to hear about your soggy scarf... And car! I belive from what iv read that a lot of people notice leaks from this area as it leaks from somewere else and trickles down.... Have you lubed the seals with krytox? If not I would say try that... If that doesn't work, locate the drainage tubes and test by pouring some water down them and see if the water backs up meaning there could be a blockage.... Best of luck and let us know what you find....

If the seals are dried out, it will leak around the windows... Especially in the snow as it melts... Snow is much more than rain as water gets trapped in the snow below and can't escape so seeps through the seals...

That's exactly where mine is leaking, although not to the extent that yours is. I've noticed that the drainage area around the bottom of the rear window is wet on the inside, so suspect the seals need a lube.

If that doesn't cure it, I'll be monitoring your progress with interest...

EXACTLY the same smell in mine!!!

Sorry to hear your news. My Eos has been with VW since 12th Jan. It is totally stripped out and they are awaiting a "modified" part from Germany to fix one of the leaks. They have identified leaks in 4 different places. The smell was the same - cat wee - my carpets and underlay are being replaced - all under warranty. VW have been very good about it so far - apart from the length of time taken to sort it. I'm not expecting to get the car back til around end of Feb!

Good Luck with getting it sorted.

Sadly the cost of garage motor trader insurance policies have hit the roof also and this is nownot an unusual practice, very few swallow the cost of courtesy car insurance these days.

You could ask them if they would accept a cover note from your own insurance company, your own insurance company will generally gladly put a courtesy car on when you explain the circumstances to them, its not as if your driving two, its whilst yours is off the road anyway.

My partner and I had a free courtesy car when our Freelander went in for its 1st servicce on Tuesday, I found out afterwards why it was free, the bill was £460 for what is virtually an oil change. We got a cover note from Direct Line.

Hi there

I have my courtesy Polo for about 3 weeks now. No cost paid or mentioned.

It depends on the problem, when I took my car in for a minor warentee repair I got the whole £10 per day insurance thing for having some poxy little Polo as a loan car, so I told them to keep it, I'd rather walk!

Then when it turned into "your car has a serious leak", I was offered a loan car free of charge as it would be VW UK that was paying for it.

So I rolled out in a top spec Jetta with leather seats etc, which I later swapped for a new Tiguan as I made a fuss that it was taking too long to fix my car and I really ought to be in a car that was more in the price range of the car I bought!!

Go to try it on a bit eh!!
