Well, here she is, 1 day old. Very impressed so far - smooth new common rail TDI is a big improvement on the old version and the new RCD510 radio is great. I am slightly disappointed, however, with the Nappa leather option I took (€400 extra!): what there is of it is great, but VW have obviously skimped as much as possible and only put the nice soft leather where absolutely necessary. There is quite a difference in the texture of the seat facings compared to the imitation (or Vienna?) side bolsters :(

I have also decided not to install the SmartTop unit I bought a couple of weeks ago, so if anyone is interested, I'm selling it for €295, incl. postage & packing :) (see this thread if interested)

Nappa leather only Euros 400 extra?

Think how you'd feel if you'd paid the £1845 extra it costs in the UK then (Euros 2305)!!

That's €400 to upgrade from the standard Vienna leather :)
Oh, I see. So you get Vienna leather as standard over there?

Even so, the difference in price between Vienna and Nappa in UK is £590 (Euros 737.50)!

Wonder why the difference is nearly twice as much in UK? Maybe just because we're daft enough to pay it...

Yes, I have to say one thing I don't miss about the UK is the high cost of motoring. We're still way ahead of the Americans on that score, of course, but rising fuel prices over there will soon make owning and driving a car as much of a luxury as it is here in Europe :(

The pop up deflector makes a major difference to noise levels at motorway speed as well as how wet you get when motorway driving if it starts to rain.

Last Sunday evening, on a trip down the M40 from Banbury, we were travelling at 70, roof down, windows up, popup deflector deployed and with the rear seat wind deflector in place when we ran into a very heavy downpour just before you come up the Vicar of Dibley hill. As long as the speed didn't go below 70 all we suffered was a few drops of water on the top of our heads which had dried within a couple of minutes of the rain stopping.

If either of the deflectors had not been in place I suspect that we would have got very wet.

Oh right, lol, thanks for the heads up :)

Here in France we have 4 trim levels: base, Sport, Carat and Individual. My Eos is the Carat, which is basically specced to the same level as Individual in the UK, except you don't get the 2-tone leather (which I wanted to avoid anyway, as neither my wife nor I like it) or, of course, all those little Individual trim bits (kick plates, wood, steering wheel design, etc). Plus, I was keen to avoid 18" wheels and the sports chassis that came with Individual, as I wanted a comfortable ride. All other features like two-zone climate control, mats, leather (Vienna) and the wind deflector are standard. The only options I specified were the Nappa leather and metallic paint.

Total cost, including all the usual last-minute add-ons like £10 of petrol, road tax, etc was €31,700 or approximately £24,400.

I was at my Dealer's last Friday (actually having all 4 Westwood wheels swapped under warranty) and they had a black Eos 2.0 T-FSi in the showroom with a sticker price of £29975 on it!!!

I was hard-pushed to spot the extras it had; it was manual transmission, didn't have the automatic climate control, or much else I could see, although it did have sat-nav and steering wheel buttons, plus Chicago alloys. I think they are being a trifle optimistic nevertheless!
