Collected my new Eos on Saturday (ordered in Sept for 1st "2009 Compliance" delivery), and needless to say, I am ecstatic! The dealer delivered on time as promised, along with flowers, wine and engine oil. :) The weather is superb in Perth right now, so less time on the computer and more time having EDAs.
Will be sure to post some pics later on, but for now the details are:
2009, TDI, auto, cloth seats, Opal silver (new colour- very noice!), 100 clicks on the clock (busy weekend in the other car!)
Thanks for all your input in helping me make my purchase.

Just about 30 years ago I bought a BMW 320. The salesman put a bottle of champagne in the glove box which I found when I got home. It probably only cost him about $15, but it certainly fixed him and the dealership firmly in my mind. I've often wondered why this practice is not done more.

On the other hand, I never went back to that dealer for reason unrelated to the car (which I loved). Probably due to the lawyer crowd that would sue in a NY minute if the bottle was opened on the road and then there was a fender bender or worse. So, we all get punished.

Kinda like the Brit shoe bomber. Probably been a billion shoes removed at airports now because of that jerk.

Hi Sand,

Don't have to say a word - I can see your smile from here :D .

Treat yourself to a balmy summer's evening drive along the beaches with the top down and finish at Cicerello's in Freo for some fresh seafood on the waterfront - now that's living :) .

The TDI economy is going to surprise you.

Have fun
David

Well... it rained today in Perth, for about 30 seconds, despite being a 30 degree day, so that gave me an excuse to wash the 10 dusty drips off.
So far no leaks, but you guys have given me the heebie-jeebies about the leak issues you have!
My salesman hadn't heard of kyrtox so I'm thinking I'm more up on this car than he is?!
anyway....
Question:
1. Do you all get that black grime in the wheels? Very messy to get off!

Time to go and look at my car again- it's been 2 hours!
And.. I have to work tomorrow using the TRAIN so no driving scheduled!

P.S- Sympathise with the heatwave you are having in VIC and SA.
PPS- Girlfriends are all suitably impressed!

Hi Sand.
Hope we get your nice cool(er) weather here in Adelaide.
My temp guage showed 47.5C at 6pm today!
And yes, that black grime appears as soon as you touch the brake pedal.

The brake dust is easily removed with CT18 Truckwash from Repco/Super Cheap. Make up a solution of 1 part CT18/4 parts water in a trigger spray pack and spray on about 5 minutes before you wash the car. The dust and crud washes off with a hose.

The Truckwash is ideal for washing the car as it cleans really effectively especially removing the dried bugs/insects that collect on the front of the car if you spray them first before washing.

Truckwash

Thanks for the tip- I'll be sure to buy some for hubby to use!

One of the reverse lights is not working. Rather than return it to the dealer for such a simple thing, is it easy enough to change myself? I did get the manual out the other day but that's as far as I got. Simplier to ask my Eos friends :)

Go to the Dealer. It might not be just the bulb. In fact it probably isn't.
Have you ever seen a simple job?

I'm pretty sure this was a problem on the earlier Eos's? Or maybe the Ford Focus CC3 - something to do with loose connections and lots of bulbs being replaced on the same car until they realised it wasn't the bulbs but the loose connections or wiring or whatever it was that was causing it. I say go to the dealer. Maybe a little google help here wouldn't go amiss too beforehand?

One is a reverse light the other side is a rear fog light.
It's on the light switch

Reversing Light

Thanks John- I just logged now on hoping to find that explanation. I have the 'Tips and Maintenance' booklet in front of me that says the rear fog light is located behind the left cover and the right is located behind the right coer. Its the 1st car I've ever owned with only 1 reversing light, so I assumed, (wrongly) that one globe had gone! My husband had tried to convince me there was only 1 so now I'll have to apologise

Now what do you mean by 'it's on the light switch?
Regards,
Sand

I'm still perplexed about the 'light switch' comment- any help on what John means? May be an Aussie feature as there seems to be a few differences on the features.

Lights

Thanks- I'll check the setting when I go out next.

By the way, a weird thing happened the other night. I had parked & locked the car and noticed some time later that the front LHS park light was still illuminated.

After much angst it ended up being because the left indicator was still flashing when turning the car off. Strange hey? I guess that means it will stay on indefinately- no good for the battery I'm sure!

This is a parking feature we have had in the UK for too many years to recall, after you have stopped and switched off, if you are on a particularly bad road / highway, you can leave the sidelights for better observance of your parked car.

You merely leave the indicator stalk either down or up, for left or right lights accordingly.

Not strange at all,

It's actually a German car feature!
It has been standard on all German cars since the 1960s!

Hi Sand,

Congratulations on your new Eos!!!

I picked mine up in the end of December and got a few added extra's which I wasnt expecting which was nice (thinking they maybe now standard??). One thing though, i got the Ipod adapter extra however have had a few problems with it. It almost whines when I have the music up and put my foot down on the accelerator..... (makes me sound like a little irresponisble doesn't it? :D ohh well.

Has anyone else had this issue with the new Eos's? I was wondering that maybe it was an issue with the new touch screen radio systems not intergrating with the old Ipod technology adapters?

Enjoy your new EOS though, next few days in Perth will be lovely for driving with the roof down!!
