It is something we tend to do here in the states when you post car images, you blur the plates, people can very easily find out a lot of information from the license plate number here, such as home address, plus i blurred it real fast, didnt take the time to blend it

thanks miami, was able to keep most of my steering wheel controls, well the left controls that is the right side would have controlled the unit and the MFD at the same time so it wouldn't have worked out too well

Pioneer System

I've had the same Pioneer Avic system from new & whilst I find the Satnav system fabulous, the same cannot be said for the FM & AM radio. FM reception I find to be very patchy (South Devon) & AM (I like to listen to Five Live) is virtually non existant. The iPod attachment works well though (photo attached). Has anybody else in UK had experience of this system in their Eos?

Was this easy to install?
Any modifications required?
Any new or modified connectors required?
Must you have steering wheel switches or can you do without them?
Thank You,
Rick

sorry for the delay

rlm:
it was a fairly easy install, have done navi and electronics before so total time was only about 3 hours on my own with a buddy kinda not helping, this includes removing paneling and all

the only modifications were to the actual trim piece that came with the unit

i think i have a total of 3 harnesses in my dash now, it is quite crowded. I retained my steering wheel controls, some functionality was lost due to the way the harness converter speaks to the car and how VW uses the MFD, but I retained next track as well as audio up and down and added phone functionality to the phone button

you can however do this without the steering wheel controls and I believe that cuts down on 1 or 2 harness controllers, can't remember exactly

monkey:
I can use certain steering wheel controls, the programming is kinda quirky, if i program all buttons they will control the navi and the mfd, this navi does not interface with the mfd like other factory ones do, was not a big deal for me as I preferred the ipod and built-in BT

John:
I hardly ever use the radio, iPod most of the time for me, but my reception was decent

what does debadged mean?

Debadged means the badges have been removed from the boot lid (trunk lid in US?) - giving a clean look to the rear. Apparently its not too hard to do, you just need a hairdryer and a bit of patience!!
