I will be getting ordinary Vienna leather on my Eos, but was wondering if it's worth upgrading to Nappa. My dealer said the only difference is that Nappa is perforated, but I can't find any photos on the net. Can anyone help, please?

Think it's the Vienna that's perforated, not the Nappa..?

I don't think so: all the leather trim vehicles at my local dealer are standard Vienna and they're all non-perforated. He also told me that the Nappa was softer, is this true? TBH, your Nappa leather looks exactly the same as the standard Vienna. This is confusing...

BTW, I lived in Hull for 20 years before I moved to France :)

You made a good move then!
The Nappa in my car is not perforated but I would say it's softer than most leathers. I think that's why it's so expensive.

Don't want to offend anyone here but when i sat in the Eos in the showroom and loved the leather interior it was Vienna (which i have now got) and when i asked the sales guy he said Nappa was "old man's leather"! I know what he means though. I can just imagine an older guy buying one and him saying Nappa is what he wants as opposed the the Vienna leather that is more basic for the "younger" generation!

Hehe, funny story :) I don't mind buying "old man's leather" if it's softer/better looking, etc. but I really need some photos to make up my mind.

Can anyone oblige?

Hi Here's my interior. For me there was no choice. Red leather is only available in Nappa.
The nappa is smoother - less grainy. I much prefer the look of nappa. If you see red leather in a showroom it is guaranteed to be nappa. I think all the 'Individual' version have nappa. The nappa is only on the seat faces - everywhere else is vynyl same with vienna - VW cheapskates.
Nappa is definitely NOT perforated unless VW have changed the seats in the last year.

As for being 'Old Mans leather' - we always appreciate quality more than just cost.

Hope these help.

I have the red Nappa leather and its definately not perforated. Also in hot weather the Nappa tends to 'breathe' as opposed to the cheaper Vienna which can become quite sweaty and I don't think is actually made of leather anyway is it? When your paying the sort of money we are paying for the EOS why downgrade on the interior?

I have the beige/cornsilk nappa leather and its no way perforated or "old mans leather" its better quality and you get what you pay for! I didn't pay cheap for my car so there was no way i was trying to save by buying cheap leather too. im 21 so im not old either

OK, so I'm an old bloke with Nappa but that's a bullshit comment from the dealer! Can't believe he said that - what difference does it make what age you are when it's just a nice smooth high-quality leather?

As written elsewhere however you do only get it on the seat-faces, which for the price they charge is something of a rip-off...

Thanks, guys :) Despite being only 44, I decided to upgrade to the Nappa and have changed my order at the dealer. I think he must have been thinking of the Nappa leather on the Phaeton, because none of the other models in the VW range seem to offer a perforated finish (which I don't care for much anyway).

Thanks again for your input :)

Point of note, I see people state that you only get leather on the seat fronts, I dont like to upset the applecart but I have it on the rear seat facings as well, am I the runt in the pack?

OK, I give up. I have the biege/cornsilk leather. So, how do I know if it's nappa? I have a US model Lux. No where on the window sticker does the word nappa appear. However, the Lux package does include leather. Whatever leather I have, I LIKE it so you can't hurt my feelings by telling me I have LESS than nappa.

Think you're misreading the posts Barchetta! Maybe you read seat fronts as front seats...

You definitely get leather on all 4 seats as in any other car but you only get it on the facings, i.e. the bits you actually seat/lean on. The sides and backs of the seats are not leather. The door facings aren't either but the centre armrest is.

Your quite right Neh.
I said "Seat Facings" not Seat Fronts. I know I use glasses perhaps Barchetta needs some too. :D
I will say his seats look fantastic though.

Ok well nappa leather is smooth and soft

vienna leather has little lines in if you know what i mean its rough compared to the nappa

when you look at your seats do the front of the seats i.e the bit you sit on, is it the same as the sides and the back or is it smoother than the sides and back?

If its smoother its nappa if its all one looks a bit grainy then its probably vienna.

Hope this helps

That's it exactly: since upgrading to Nappa from the original Vienna I ordered, I have done some research and seen the different qualities of leather in person. Basically, Nappa is super soft, whereas Vienna has tiny irregular dimples and is 'rougher' to the touch.
