I'd like to have the radio-satnav package in my 07 Eos. The car has the 6-pack CD player-SATCOM radio with satty antenna and wiring. Can I retrofit the VW radio-GPS suite and where would I purchase it? The dealer here (S central PA) doesn't want to be bothered.

Addtionally, has anyone heard of a non-VW package that fits the aperture and mounting brackes?

Or...does computer involvement make this all too hard?

TIA, Steve

Steve, try searching for Zenec, not only does it fit but its an after market range which is specifically designed shape and style. be careful they have a new one comming out the NC2010.

Steve,
If you want SAT-NAV take a pass on the unit that was offered for the 07 and 08 US models. There were a lot of people on other forums who didn't like the unit for a multitude of reasons. You could probably order one through VW and it maybe almost as expensive as ordering one of the new RNS-510 units. This unit can be is far better than the first nav unit but is not exactly a drop in unit. Mechanicaaly it fits perfectly but requires some minor programming using VAG-COM to get all functions working. The RNS-510 from VW is aroung $2,000. The older nav unit may be avaialable through E-bay. I don't know if it is a plug and play replacement. I have not read anywhere about anyone retrofitting one. Most people opt for an aftermarket unit such as Pioneer or Kenwood. If you want to do this yourself you could order your unit from Crutchfield which is supposed to have pretty good tech support and will match up all the pieces you will need. You could also see if you can find a good installer in your area. The Zenec is not available in the US as far as I can tell. Also regardless of what you get, you will need the antenna for the SAT-NAV. On the Eos, all antennas are built into the trunklid. If you didn't order the sat SAT-NAV initially, then the antenna was never installed and it cannot be retrofitted. You would have to order a complete trunklid with that antenna built in.

I've had a Pioneer AVIC-F900BT in mine for about 6 months now.

I bought the head unit through a customer at work (discount), but I bought the mounting bracket and steering wheel controls all from Crutchfield. The steering wheel control adapter was kind of a pain to get to work but it does now.

Over all the AVIC-F900BT is okay. It's not too expensive and the iPod control is the best I've seen (voice control is awesome). Pioneer has much better maps than the Garmen (I forget where they get their data from but I think there is only two data sets out there). But the system is very laggy and the BlueTooth performance is sub par.

I'm sure you can get a crutchfield adapter for any Double Din headunit you like. I like the pioneer well enough to recommend it.

Daneel,
I also have the Pioneer AVIC F900BT unit in my Eos & very happy with it.
The only problem I have come across is with the microphone for mobile communication. People at the other end of the call say my voice is very faint. Is there any way of increasing the sensitivity of the microphone? The microphone exits the dash underneath the rev counter in the main instrument binnacle. The problem is the same whether the top is up or down. The unit was fitted professionally.
Would appreciate any advice.

I have my mic up near stock mic location (near rear view).
People have a hard time hearing me - at best. Forget it with the top down.

That's why I say the bluetooth sucks. But I think bluetooth ear pieces are pretty bad too.

I got the avic for the map (3d is cool) and pod control.

My mic is mounted on the little ledge in front of the rev counter! fits perfectly and works great with the roof off... Anyone fitting one, I recommend putting mic there!

That's exactly where mine is fitted but callers say that they can only just hear me, roof up or down. Do you know if there is any way of increasing the mic sensitivity?
