... and that's just me :D

Only kidding. Took delivery yesterday of one brand new EOS 2.0 TFSI Sport, 6-speed manual, in midnight blue with cornsilk beige upholstery. The delivery driver insisted on demonstrating the top-down mechanism even though it was pouring with rain at the time, but at least I know it works.

Early days of course but this car seems so classy and well constructed, even the little things like the controls manual being leather bound add to the overall impression. It's put a big grin on my face anyway.

The only thing I'd not expected was the carpets being colour-coordinated with the choice of leather. My friends will have to be very very about careful putting their muddy boots on my cream coloured carpets, that's all I can say!

Looking forward to getting to know lots of you good folk. By the way, I'm in Kent, UK.

Welcome Henry
There's a few of us in Kent and we do meet up so check the posts for South East England.
As for the carpets I have the same problem, my advice is to clean often and shampoo the mats regularly, once the dirt takes hold its impossible to shift!!
Enjoy your car - mines nearly 3 and still no regrets!!

Hi there you lucky person! So when did you order it out of interest? You may have seen my post where I say that my build date has gone back to week 51 having ordered it July 29th.

Anyway, have a great time and get the roof down beofre the snow comes!
If you are worried about dirty mats, get yourself a set of the rubber monster mats. They are pretty heavy duty and say Eos on them.

What a shame about the build week slipping  So you won't even have it for Christmas by the sound of it? I'm sorry to hear that.

I ordered on 10 July and the dealer (Caffyn's in Hove) put a dummy order on the system just beforehand to give me an idea of which build week would be allocated. In the end it was week 37. As I guess you know if you've been ordering this summer, VW were offering their dealers a sizeable discount for registrations completed by 30 Sep and although mine was still on the transporter at that point it was at least in the country and we managed to get it insured and registered on the 30th.

When I went for my test drive (Otford, Kent) at the beginning of July they offered me their demo car (also 2.0 Sport, but a bit pricey because it was loaded with extras) and if I'd not already done most of my summer driving it would have been very tempting to accept it but there's also been a slight change to the engines this summer which swayed me. If you compare the Eos price/feature booklets from 1 May and 25 May you'll see that the co/2 emissions have gone down from 188 to 178 which is a category lower in UK road tax. I was told that factory orders would have the new engine but ex-demo stock was the old type.

Thanks to all for your advice about getting rubber mats - sounds like the way to go!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Eos-ing!!!! Simarly to you I took the not so wise decision of the cornsilk leather and matching carpets but hey with a bit of TLC and lecture to my fellow friendly travellers (with many jests about carpet slipper pockets in the door) 18 monthes later she still looks as beautiful as day 1! Roll on the summer monthes when your car will be a pure delight and pleasure to enjoy!
Welcome Henry, my wife used to live in Orpington and says she know Otford well!
Happy safe driving, and don't forget, as long as it's not actually raining most of us go 'topless' even on a short drive !
Roof down, heater and bum warmers on - fantastic.

Thanks for the welcome! It's a grey, grim day out there today but I'm sure that won't stop me going for a spin :D What part of Suffolk are you from? I grew up in Woodbridge and was back there a fortnight ago!

Hi, thanks for the heads-up. Could you mail me the details of when/where? We *might* be spending next weekend with friends in Tonbridge but if not then I'll see if I can talk my girlfriend into coming along to meet some fellow Eos loons :D

You'll have to explain about the ploughing too - lost me there!!!

Fingers crossed for clear blue skies next Sunday :)

We're meeting near Tonbridge at about 12.30 - lunch will be provided! The ploughing is a result of the last meet - everyone got very excited about my vegetable plot and the tractors. So we're all going to plough the plot on the 1st!! If you're interested at all. PM me and I'll get in touch.
I lucked out with the mats. While we originally had the beige mats, my wife surprised me with the gift of black summer mats. Will still need to shampoo but the black with the beige looks quite nice.
