Can anybody help with this?

We are just about to order our replacement EOS and I have heard that VW are changing the engine line up for next year.

Does anybody know what these are going to be?

I heard something about a TSI engine and maybe a different range of Diesels.

Just to let you into our current thought process, we are also toying with the idea of ordering a new Tiguan instead of a replacement EOS.

Hi,

I think the only replacement for 2008 MY is the 1.4TSI instead of the 1.6FSI... Not aware of any others, although there was talk of some more, but thats the only one I am 100% about!

Think you're right Simon - just that one change.

Ive read some bad reports about the 1.4TFSI engine which would put me off. I'd rather see a bigger quieter diesel engine option. The Audi A4 cabriolet has some nice diesel units. :)

I have driven lots of diesels but never owned one as I have always found them far too rattly and noisy for my everyday use (no offence to diesel owners).

However, VW are finally bringing out a range of common rail diesels, and the Tiguan will have the choice of two, the 140bhp and 170bhp. If I were to buy one, I would go for either the 170bhp diesel or maybe the 200bhp petrol TSI, but only if the characteristics of it were not like the 1.4 TSI golf that I drove as it was very hesitant for a split second when accelerating hard.

Thanks Denny, I read all the postings every day.

I read elsewhere that the 1.4 TSI is quite high on insurance due to it being a more complex engine.

I was told that VW had brought out a new 1.8 diesel unit which is quieter with more power. Anyone else heard of this, is this the new common rail model as oppose to the 'PD' type. I doubt they will be putting them in the Eos though!

Cheers, David

There is a recent posting on the forum somewhere regarding VW bringing out two new engines in Germany next year. Re Diesel's, I've had one before and the wife bought her first diesel Merc in March this year and just loves it. Says she can't believe how quiet it is and how much cheaper it is to run.
