Hello,

I bought a new 2009 Eos a few weeks ago and was very happy until my roof started to rattle. It doesn't rattle all the time, but seems to happen when the temperature is very cold (20 degrees F or colder). When it starts it is a constant rattle in the very back of the roof. Is this normal?

Our 09 is doing this when cold as well. It happens more when (-10° F or lower). I have noticed that sometimes some ice forms between the rear convertable top and the trunk area from melting snow ext. Once I clean the ice away the sound was not as bad. I believe the seals just get stiff at the colder temps and cause some sound.

Thanks for the replies. I will try the Krytox, wonder why the dealership didn't tell me this when I took it back and complained and they told me the towing hook from the toolbox was lying loose in the truck. It wasn’t; Not very happy with the dealership.:)

Krytox will eliminate or significantly reduce the squeaking. Since the seals are somewhat porous, it's important to make sure they are dry prior to applying the krytox so that is can soak in and create a hydrophobic/waterproof condition.

Also if you're out and about in the rain, I recommend garaging afterward so you can drop the top and allow the seals to dry. Otherwise water gets trapped into or inbetween the seals and causes that squeaking sound.

Mine is more of a creak than a rattle, it is the flip up wind deflector for the sunroof that is creaking as there isnt a seal between the roof and top of the deflector. When it stops snowing I am going to put a couple of sticky back foam strips on it.
