Hi everybody...I'm Steve from New Jersey. Currently driving a 2001 Sebring Convertible with 190k miles on it, and soon (hopefully, before the next repair) I'll be the proud owner an Eos. Almost bought one today!

At $33k, though, it's a bit out of reach for me; and a used one is hard to find--and, well, used! Today a VW salesman pitched the idea of leasing, but I drive 25,000 miles a year, where most people say leasing is a bad option. But this guy says leasing actually is best for high-mileage drivers, who depreciate their cars the most, and can turn them in scott-free at the end of the term.

I'm not totally convinced leasing doesn't end up more expensive in the long run (and I do hope to have a long run with this car) but it may be the only way I can get into an Eos now.

I'm hoping someone/anyone here can offer me information, opinions, advice, encouragement. And hoping that before very long, I can really be a card-carrying member of this club!

Glad to be here,

Steve

There are several used ones on Ebay....I've seen some from NJ dealerships. My dealership here in the Richmond, VA area recently had two 2007 models equipped like Komfort models for $24k. I think if you look around and esp if you're willing to travel a smidge, you should find what you're looking for. Buy soon, though b/c once the weather really gets nice in NJ there will be no deals and any good Eos'es will be gone quickly. In my opinion, that car is worth every penny!

Good luck!

Have you tried cars.com, autotrader.com, or carmax.com in your search? There should be a few used out there. My dealer had a used 07 with i think 6K miles on it for just un der 24K. Now is a bad time for buying any convertible now that the weather is warming up. Leasing is not good for anyone wanting long term ownership especially when the mileage kicks in. You may get lower monthly payments but there are so many other things to be worried about. The car needs to be turned in at lease end in almost new condition or you pay for it in extra charges. As for me I tend to hang on to my cars a while. This means they are worth way less as a trade. So All I can say is carefully look at the pros and cons of both and take the best choice for you.

I actually just bought a used Eos about a week ago. It was an 08 with only 3,000 miles on it. I got it for 24K. I actually got it off of a BMW lot. Keep an eye out on all car lots, you might be suprised!

From the sounds of it though, people really dont like to give theirs up, unless its to trade up (my car was traded in along with a 4runner for a beamer). So good luck!

Wow, AlaskanEos, that was a find! I should be so lucky. Thus far my search hasn't taken me beyond VW and BMW lots (been looking at 325Ci/330Ci too) but there isn't enough time in the world for me to check every used car lot in the Garden State.

Leasing is out and the more I reflect on the way I was handled (and I use that word deliberately) by the VW salesman, the more P.O.'ed I get.

The search goes on...

From South Jersey.

Hi Steve, For what it's worth Burlington VW has a 08 EOS Black with 11382 miles. They are asking $25,832. I bought mine from them about 2 years ago and still love the car. Hope you find one soon.

Thanks, Fred. I saw potential Eoses at Burlington, Flemington, and Phillipsburg listed. More interesting to me than the one at Burlington is the one at Phillipsburg - a blue/beige '08 Lux with 23k miles, asking $25k. However the Carfax report shows this vehicle has already had three owners!

Why do the radios look different (between the Burlington and Phillipburg cars)?

Radios

Steve, The radio in Phillipsburg is like the one I have in my 2007. I am not familiar with the one in Burlington. Sorry.

Steve with a little more checking of the radio in the Burlington EOS I suspect it has less features. The one in Phillipsburg has the capability of getting Sirus radio and a 6 CD changer.

Thanks for the scoop on the radio. The radio in the Phillipsburg EOS matches the one in the car I test-drove, and I can't see settling for anything less than that. Sirius satellite radio is a must-have feature.

Yes! I see a interesting white '08 EOS in Ewing with under 12k miles on it (and a clean Carfax report) for $25k.

My search has been put on hold by a possible opportunity to get a hot deal on a new Lexus IS250C when it becomes available (hopefully soon).
