Hi, I am waiting for my 2.0 FSI Eos and hope to have it soon. Only concern is that as it is not a Turbo or Sport model (Company wouldn't allow it) is it going to be underpowered?

Statistics says 9.6 seconds 0-60 and 130 top speed which sounds respectible but everyone seems to have the Turbo version and praises the performance.

Also does anyone have the standard stereo? What is it like?

My Eos: - 2.0 FSI, Silver, Lux Pack, Climate Control, Wind Deflector, Non leather seats, standard 16" wheels.

I think there is a noticeable difference in "pep" between the non-turbo and turbo versions, and given the chance I would go for the turbo version. On the other hand, the car itself is a very exciting one to own and you have lots of other "toys" in your package to keep you happy! Consider yourself lucky that your company allows you to purchase a "sporty" convertible! I am sure, in spite of it being non-turbo, you will still be a very happy camper! By the way, the maximum speed is the same for both turbo and non-turbo; as I believe it is governed. The only difference is how long it takes to get to that speed. Cheers and enjoy your new car!

If it's a nice day out and you have the top down, does it really matter?
Nope, not at all.

Actually, while the driving is excellent and totally enjoyable, I also had just as much fun sitting in a 45 minute border crossing lineup.

With the top down and the music going... Nothing more to be said...

Side notes:

After said 45 minute lineup, I now have sunscreen in the car that would save me from a nuclear blast... ;)

Although, in retro-spec, the 45 minutes being stationary probably were not really the burning-factor. It was probably the 2 or 3 hours of driving on either side of that lineup that did me in.

It was worth it... ;)

Hi Comet,

We tried out the standard stereo in the demonstrator that we drove and there was nothing wrong with it at all. Very respectable.

I have found the standard stereo to be very good and more than adequate performance even with roof down and travelling at speed. Since the surrounding noise from the outside is mixing with your tunes does it really make a lot of difference. If you put up with mp3 tunes you will love the standard unit.

:)

We have the 2.0 and it is fast enough for the UK.

After all this is a car for cruising, not for blasting!

Comet30, to reply to your question, I have a T-FSI EOS which has lovely performance. But it comes at a price which is a rather poor fuel economy. With your aspirated version, you should hopefully drive pass me with a big smile on your face as I am refuelling at the pump.
Just like you I have a standard stereo and I find it fantastic. I particularly love the fact that the volume increases or decreases depending on the speed of the car. I can always hear perfectly well roof up or down. Enjoy it when you take delivery of it and let us know what you think.

Thanks for all your comments. Car should be built now so a bit more waiting! Does the VW dealer call you to tell you the car has been built?

Gavin has a good point ... if you don't hear from them, just keep calling! Sonner or later they will give you answers! Good luck!

Thanks, I think I will push. The fella at my dealer in Stowmarket is not sure about anything usually so it is hard to know where you stand.

My dealer has been quite useless in keeping me informed and although they have called me occasionally all they can say is 'just to let you know we haven't forgotten you'.
I wrote a two page letter listing all my complaints which resulted in me speaking to the brand manager who has been very helpful in giving me full details of build date, build time, order details, etc and he has kept me informed.

so hope to get my car next week, (whoopee!), after 16 weeks wait.
sad to say but if you dont make a fuss you dont get anywhere:(
