Aloha All,
Happy New Year! I recently got tired of being challenged at the stop light and went ahead and did it. A white Chrysler Sebring kept egging me on at a stop light we where both sitting at. He kept rolling forward and had his girlfriend or wife sitting up front with him. He had a smerk on his face and people usually just say nice car, this guy wanted to race.
I looked around before the light turned green, put it in sport mode, light turned green and the Chrysler roared while the VDub screamed and bang, he was in my rear view mirror like a bug. I felt bad after, and should be more of an adult, but boy that was fun and this car is a real sleeper! Feels like it has much more than 200hp, and 207 lb torque! I love this car!
Figured leak problem out also. It was the drain tubes. If you put down the top, after washing or a hard rain, even though the car is dry, water remains in the tubes and drips into the trunk as you are lowering the roof! No leak in trunk, just residual water in drain tubes in roof panel.

I will try to be a grown up, but it is hard with this car.

I have to admit, I have done the same, and it was also a Sebring. I saw the guy when I stopped at the gas station shortly afterward. He had to come over and admire the EOS. He thought it was all show no go. He asked if I minded putting the top up, of coarse I gladdly showed him. He really like the hard top with sun roof. He said he would be looking at the VW next time around. Gotta love the 2.0T power :)

Similar but different.... This weekend we got a flyer in the mail from a local Toyota dealership... "287 used cars must go". There was a key affixed to the flyer which was a gimmick; if the key opened the 2009 Camry that was in the showroom it was yours to keep plus there were chances to win four other small prizes. I decided in some spare time, I'd go just to see if I was having a lucky 2009. If I won the Camry, I would have sold it and taken the cash. Anyway, pulled up in the Eos, circled the parking lot and found that many a sales person had come to the window to watch.....was it the lure of a customer or the Eos????? I went in and of course did not have the right key to open the Camry (but did with three gold $1.00 coins). I took a look at the inventory of Prius they had for a friend who is interested and we chatted. Salesman says, "So what kind of Volkswagen is that anyway". "Eos, convertible," I said. With a puzzled look on his face, I reached into my pocket and activated the top by remote (SmartTop). He was in awe as were the other 10 sales people standing around the showroom. I told him it almost got as good mileage as the Prius as I am now getting 35 mpg Hwy with the APR tune. I also told him of the 252 hp and 303 foot pounds of torque and he said, "Gotta love those German engines". I activated the top back up to another big "Wow". I think he may be looking for his next job at VW :)

Having recently traded in an '01 Sebring LXi convertible for an '08 Eos Komfort, I can tell you that the Chrysler is so easy to dust with the VW. The Sebring can't even get out of its own way. Heck, I've been pushing that car uphill for years and I didn't even know it!

On its last day, it had over 191,000 dealer-serviced miles on it. It been berry good to me.

Takes a lot to beat the 2.0T with the DSG!!!
A hell of a lot Simon!
With the weather the way it has been the last couple of weeks the only thing I might has swopped the EOS for was perhaps a Bently Convertable - then again the mpg probably wouldn't be quite so good !

That's what we did, or rather, we bought the Eos then sold our '02 Sebring GTC to a private buyer. On paper the cars have the same 200hp, and the weight is close (although it's smaller, the Eos is built like a tank). Our 5-speed Sebring had pretty good acceleration, but the Eos is definitely quicker. I'm guessing the higher torque of the turbo motor makes the difference at stoplights. My wife's been babying the Eos during its break-in period, but last week she had to goose it to get around traffic to make her Interstate exit. She came home and said, "Wow!"
