While we have not driven it that much, the times we have taken it out have been alot of fun. The car gets a few stares from people, including volkswagen owners. Apparently they are not aware of the model. My wife likes that part of the ownership.

I am also pleased that BMW is coming out with a very similar car for alot more money. I personally do not need the "prestige" of the BMW name. We looked up the BMW hardtop convertible and it does not appear that they are providing a moon-roof sunroof, a major plus on the EOS. Plus, I would much rather have the same fun and pocket the difference.

While I was told by the dealer that the car can go through the car wash, I am a bit concerned about trying that. We will have to try soon since it got a bit dirty this past weekend. Enjoy your EOS!

If you love the car then don't put it through a car wash.

Treat it gently with shampoo, sponge and lots of clean water. The shine will last longer and have a lot less surface scratches.

Agree completely - avoid car washes at all costs unless a complete emergency!! And certainly avoid when the car is within a few months old and the paint is still delicate, no matter what the dealer says. A little TLC will be repaid when you look at the condition this time next year

car wash

While "love" is a word I try and keep for humans, I understand your comments. I guess we will be getting out there with a sponge and water as soon as it warms up a bit.

I also have a miata (softop) and I continue to use a moist chamois on the surface and it looks great after 16 years (its a 1991 Red Miata). Obviously that car has never been to the car wash.

Maybe after we clean the EOS I will use the Chamois and see if it keeps the car looking clean.

Thanks for the comments.

Enjoy the sun.

The love grows withEos usage.

I take your point about the chamois I should have stated that as well.I always remove the water droplets with one. Then apply the Mer polish, let dry and buff off. Pure perfection

Cheers

I agree too. I NEVER EVER use a car wash! Lots of warm water, a good quality sponge then a proper chamois is what you need. I never tire of doing it, much to my wife's annoyance (I should always be doing something More Useful!)

Dunno about you guys but I heard that car washes arent particulary good for the Eos due to the seals etc in the roof. I'd hate to think that the high pressure could move or disturb the seals etc but I guess it is possible.

Me, I give mine lots of TLC with a hot soapy sponge and it works a treat!! No water probs here!!

Luv me Eos lol!!!

hey tis been said that our cars are the closests thing that we as humanoids have created as far as artificial life. i thinkit has more to do with the emotional bond that we have with our 4 wheeled pets than the technical prowness normaally associated with the term artificial intelleigence...

I'm just waiting for hallmark to make car themed valentine cards.... aren't you? :D

not sure about the moist chamois.. since dirt on a car is an abrasive and water is not enough of a lubricant.. so you are just rubbing the dirt on the paint. causing micro scratches that appear as more of a dullness to the finish than an actual scratch. So while your miata looks "clean" it may have lost its luster over time and you woud not have noticed it....

Every car washer will say that you have to rinse dirt away.. not wipe from a car finish. the only time you wipe your car is either when its with some sort of lubricant (soap, quickdetailer, etc) or shen its clean and its with a microfiber towel or chamois.

Considering that the Eos is new, it might be the perfect time to try something different....

This is why I miss my old Saturn... i didn't care who washed it....

Agree with the "no no" to automated car washes.

The manual also suggests never wash the roof with a power washer as it could damage the seals. I can see that, but I wash mine at the self wash bay with the power washer. When I do the roof, I just stand further back and do a "gentle" spray over the roof. That is enough to clean the glass sunroof and get the dirt off everywhere else without direct powerful spray in the area of the seals.

Yep, that's the one for me, after trying different ways and living in a rainy country. Give your baby a good garage power wash, but only from the doors down (that's important) close up, then stand way back and 'mist' the top. Or , better, you could do the roof at home first. And, as mentioned on other threads, don't get wax on the windscreen, as it affects the rain sensors.

Good suggestion Hugh ... that's exactly what I do. I suppose I could be fussier with a chamois and special treatments, but a careful spray wash from a good distance seems to do the trick!
