Hey there; has anyone ever had the out door temperature reading flashing at 4 degrees 'C' with a audible tone and an extra icon to the left of the temp. both flahing?
I have read the manual that came with my EOS and it is not shown in there. What does this mean?
Thanks Combustion Tech:confused:

Mine does the same thing. I guessed it was probably an ice warning or something similar.

Yes, I believe that is an ice warning....mine displays in degrees F, but I do recall that flashing and chime on cold days last December....much prefer the warmer days, though! -- Just realized this comes on at 39 degrees F. Brrrr.....chilly mornings here. Fortunately giving way to some high 60 degree temps.

Yes, as the others say it gives you a warning at 4 degrees C that there may be ice on the road. The icon is supposed to represent ice!

Not sure how ice forms at +4 but perhaps it's possible there is a residue if it's been down to zero or below and some parts of the road have not warmed up sufficiently to melt it all..

The warning is given at 4 degrees because the temperature sensor is high off the ground and the temperature at the road surface could be below 0 degrees with chances of ice. Its just a fail safe range.

In USA model, it starts to flash when temp is 40 F or less and you can make it stop flashing by pushing the OK steering wheel button.

This warning is obligatory for every new car.Of course the warning is because of the low temperature and the frozen road therefore

Frost / Ice warning

Is there a way to disable the warning? We live in WI an it is annoying to say the least. Every morning it beeps and blinks. I know when the roads are slippery and do not need a car to tell me. Any tips? its 42° F now my warning will go off every time I hit a Vally. :)

It's not an ice warning, it's a frost warning - yellow snowflake at 4 degrees and if it gets to zero and below it'll turn red to indicate ice. I think most cars do this now, my Focus ST had the same system.

Never noticed it changing colour before but I'll watch out for that next time it drops below zero and see if it does it!

Just went out in my car and ALL the figures in the display are red anyway, incl the ice-warning symbol and temperature readout (temp was 4 degrees)!

Will watch out for it to change colour at zero, but I'll be surprised if it does..

My bad, it doesn't change colour. I'd been damn sure it was only yellow yesterday when it was 4 degrees but today it was red down from 6.5 out of the garage to -0.5 on the way to work!

Oh well, my Focus ST DEFINITELY changed colour!!

Surface temperature is typically colder then air temperature, that is why the warning goes off above freezing. As to the annoyance, mine only comes on once (as it detects cold temperature) but then turns off and does not re-appear unless I turn the car off and back on - not annoying at all.
