Hi I am new to this forum and am as of yet not an Eos owner. I currently run a TT roadster but am looking at the Eos as a replacement for the added practicality but without loosing the wind in the hair experience. I have been tempted by a local car supermarket which sell brand new Eos's which are parallel imports from Ireland. The cars are 20 TFSi sports, the spec is identical to the UK model but comes with 16inch Adelaide alloys as the standard Eos does instead of the bigger 17inch wheels. Does anyone know if this would suggest that they do not have the sports suspension. I have had a look at www.volkswagen.ie the Irish VDub websight but it does not mention this. It appears that in Ireland the car does not come in a specific sport spec, but like I say everything else is identical to the UK sport spec (sports seats, drilled alloy pedals etc). Maybe there is an Irish member who can answer this question for me :)

P.S I noticed that the dampers have red boots on them if that means anything

I would check on the warranty. In the UK its three years, that's two years manufacturers then a third year from the UK VW dealer network. If you import you only get the two years maufacturers warranty. You can buy a third year of course and I am told that VW may offer that to you (probably cost 3-400 quid) so factor that into the price reduction.
Cheers, David

Teejay, as far as I can see from the UK broshure if the car has sport susp it should have 17" wheels, might be worth checking out with the "supermarket" first.

I have one with the sports package, and I think is quite useful, I found out that if I corner hard, with the top down, The tail tends to slip a bit more and the antiskid light comes on. And the luxury package feel softer maybe too soft, so I think the sport suspension does help out on the top down cornering condition. I really do recommend it.

Import will always be an import.
When you buy you may save a few quid.
But when you sell yours is worthless than a uk car. Thats if you can see it to buyers knowing that its imported.
Also insurance is dearer and if it does go wrong? I think there may be some get out with the local dealer when they look at the chasis number and see its an import.

Id always buy a UK car, knowing I can sell amongst all the others in the Auto Trader and be competitive. Import has to be cheaper and has to be known its imported.

Just my opinion.

That certainly used to be the case but there are so many around now it's rather different. Dealers will try to use it as an excuse to give you less for a car but provided the car is full UK spec there is no reason whatsoever why an 'import' should be worth less. Don't forget these cars are made in Portugal so they're ALL imports! It's just dealers trying to make a few more quid.
