Hi again

As my 3 month old Eos was written off I've just got my new replacement Sport model.

This is probably very simple (I'm hoping).

When i put the car into reverse, I can only hear the parking sensor sound. Nothing comes up on the screen of my DVD nav. My old model which has the same unit, used to have a picture of the vehicle displaying how close you are the rear objects. I've looked in the handbook but nothing about it.

Shouldn't it be automatic??

mine shows the picture you need to take this back to the garage might be something not set up ?

The reversing camera is separate to the PDC system...

It is possible that it is not fitted at all... I didn't think it was even an option in the UK!

Hi

Don't mean the parking camera. Its just the animation representing the car and proximity to rear objects...

Took car in yesterday to VW and they couldn't understand it. Actually they tried to b*ll sh*t me and say it only happens if you have front sensors too! They are checking with Head Office for an update...

The Australian specification MY09 has it as a standard feature - could be universal with the standard RCD510 that is currently being installed. It uses the proximity sensors for the boot lid.

VW still have no idea how to fix this or why it doesn't work!

Surely it must just be a software update (which isn't available).

Would everybody in the UK only please post their date of manufacture (build date, not reg date) and whether they can the optical parking system display on their DVD unit. Thanks.

I have a standard TDI Individual, no DSG and no multi functional steering wheel.

I cannot advise you on the exact build date, other than to say it was some time in Octoberr, we took delivery the 2nd week of November. My partner works for a VW dealer and was monitoring the cars progress.

It is the standard radio/single CD system (not sat nav), I only have reverse sensors (not front) I confirm I do have the schematic which comes up on the dash, the "picture" has a number of markers / blocks behind the line darwing of a car layout. As you selecte reverse, the radio sound lowers I get the bleeping and the markers flash as you get progressively closer to the object.

I dont have any of this and i have a TDI Sport with the reverse sensors on no satnav or anything, so this is new to me
