Hi,
Anybody had a problem with their parking sensors? Having a strange problem where I reverse up the drive and they're fine with just the single beep when going into reverse gear.

However sometimes when parking up at my destination I'll put the car into reverse and there's a single beep then the continuous tone stays on even with nothing behind that could be setting them off.

Have had a look and can't see any dirt or debris on them.

Looks like a trip to the dealer is needed.

Objects to the side near the back will also set them off. Could that be the answer?

Mine are sensitive enough to be set of by tall weeds.

I have a tall plant next to the driveway with large leaves that the car misses by a few inches when reversing out of the garage.
The PDC beeps continuously until the rear of the car is about to move past the leaves!

Same issue with the reversing sensors on an '08 model.
Yesterday when the EOS was put in reverse the parking sensors emitted constant tone (whether objects near or not). Turned ignition off / on - still the same. Couple of hours later problem had gone. Would suspect software problem.
Did you ever get a solution ?

If it's a continuous beep as soon as you put it into reverse, it could indicate a problem with the system as it used to on mine.

I've no experience of the EOS, but I've had a similar problem on a different car before and it was the reversing light switch - sometimes it would do this and when I checked the reversing lights weren't on...

Hiya,

I took mine into the dealer last week and they checked the fault memory and tried the guided fault system but couldn't reproduce the problem. They said they'd put it on the computer so if lots of people reported problems it would be flagged.

I found that the sensors have been ok for the last few days - I'm beginning to wonder if it's connected with all the rain we've been having here.

Cheers,
Si

Parking sensors

Hi ,
Have had same problem with my 06 car. Sensors come on continuously and makes reversing a nightmare.
This concern also affected the roof from working correctly as the sensors detect an obstruction and to safeguard the boot lid, stop the roof from working correctly.
Car is in dealers now awaiting new sensor ( 2nd from left ) Have been told this will cure both concerns .
Hope this helps.

I got them to take a second look at mine a few months ago (possibly before christmas) and it did turn out that one of the sensors was faulty.

Had it replaced and haven't had a problem since.

Cheers,
Si

Thanks for the update. That's very helpful. I had a similar experience, only mine was very obvious as an idiot reversed into the back bumper and popped one of the sensors. As a results, a continuous beep could be heard when the car was put on reverse the first time. Then nothing anymore until the engine was turned off and on. Obviously once the sensor was replaced, everything started working again.
