Hi All
I've been looking at putin in a Parrrot ck3100 and the Multican interface, to give the full function on the MFS wheel, all the info i got was that it is all plug & play. Turns out not to be true, the company i got the multican from said it was not returnable to which came the reply yyyyyyyy. cos 8 out of 10 how buy them say it will not work, turns out it is to do with the can bus system and the ignition feed but parrot say thats all they can tell me have it installed buy a pro installer.

So has someone done it and if so how? is the canbus wired

There is a link to a vwvortex.com howto search our club for bluetooth to find it. I did this upgrade and it is pretty much plug and play if you buy the right adapter kit. The issue I had is that the Eos wiring harness does not provide any switched power lead to the radio, only a "always hot" lead. There is a plug position for 12V switched but the wire is not there in the newest VWs as none of the new radios use that line anymore.

The newer radios learn only from the CAN-BUS the key position and if it is allowed to be played or not.

The Audicom and CAN-BUS adapters need a switched power lead so they don't drain the battery, since that lead is not in the Eos radio plug the power can't come from the adapter anymore. This is why it is not "plug and play".

There is easy access to the 12V switched lead on the back of the 12V accessory outlet below the radio, I used a tap connector to connect the power line from the audicom wiring harness.

Multican requires some extra connections at time of install, but this is not really a massive job. Instructions are provided with the Multican (along with wiring diagram(s))
The Multican interface generates the switched 12V for the ignition feed to the CK3100, so you do not need to wire this separately.
Have one in own Eos and works fine.

I got a sot -076 and used the canbus hi & low, and mute as a mate helped but he was not sure as to remove the fuse for the ignition 12+ v dc as the canbus was feeding the CK3100 unit from the multican unit. he'd asked four installers and parrot, two said remove the fuse two said leave the fuse in and one said, what??????? i don't now. He was on my mates hands free and he sounded a right divvie. the hole system got three fuses 2 x 5amp red & orange on the sot-076, and a red 5 amp from the multican to the blue parrot unit. i never seen so many wire in my life, glad my mate helped or should i say done it.

Peraphs some of you can help me ...I really need help :(

I've just installed the Parrot CK3000 Evolution on my VW EOS with RCD 500 and everything is OK.

Then, I fit the Parrot Multican for the CK3000 Evo and got problems. I bought the Multican for CK3000 Evolution at Expansys.

I use the manual pdf for CK3000 evolution + multican at VW downloaded from Parrot website.

In order to not cut the wires from supplied equipment I also fit a harness adapter (FSE-Adapter Parrot Quadlock / Telephone Mute Adapter Parrot / ISO 4 - Kanal / from www.acvgmbh.de artikle n.º 57-1324).

My phone is a Nokia N73.

With no bluetooth active on the phone, when I turned the car key on, the led on Multican light green, after +/- 20 seconds, I hear a female voice saying "Connect on Hang Up", repeat a second time after +/- 15 seconds and repeat a third time after +/- 15 seconds then after +/- 15 seconds she says "Connection problem". I tried also to press all buttons on steering wheel but nothing.

With the bluetooth active on the phone, it does the same thing but the phone connect automatically to the CK3000 Evo and using the phone buttons it works.

The volume buttons on the steering wheel doesn't work, neither the green led on the Multican acuse the volume buttons press.

The Phone button on the steering wheel doesn't work, however the led green on the Multican changes to red on Phone button press.

I installed this at profissional auto electrician and we revised very carefully all the connections by Parrot pdf manual and everything seems fine.

Pleeeaaaase heeeelp....

Connect the mute connection on the RCD500 as well.
All will then be OK.
If that does not work, try resetting the MultiCan as might not have setup the CAN protocol correctly.
Thank you very much for your help!

The Mute is connected to the RCD500. However, there are 3 wires for Mute, Mute 1, Mute 2 and Mute 3 (white, blue and yellow), I'm not sure but I use the yellow. Is it indiferent or I must use a especific one?

How I reset the Multican, is a little button near green led?

Do you understand the message "Connect on Hang Up"?

Thanks.

The mute connection is on rear of stereo directly above earth connection. Position is shown on label on the RCD300/500.

Mute/1/2/3 connections are not used on the EOS.

"Connect on Hang Up" is generally caused by incorrect installation.

To reset MultiCan see the following:
http://www.parrot.com/uk/support/us...uide_pss_pdh_ppv/image/multican28-09-2007.pdf
Look at page 18
I've done the reset and same behaviour.

I'm using a conversor cable Quadlock with telemute. Seller said that is especific for Multican+CK3000 Evolution and VW.

I had 2 Mute cables connected. One from the Multican to CK3000 and other from Multican to Radio (radio side, I take from radio mute cable at the cables adaptor). I disconnect the one to Radio.

Now, I've all steering wheel buttons for phone working, so seems it is working fine ...however...

Radio message "Phone" when bluetooth connect to radio don't show up and ...worse...

"CD ERROR - Service" No CD's for 6 positions and I've it full.

When I first press button radio "CD" show up "AUX-IN" and not CD only I press a second time it shows CD and the error.

So, it seems a problem related with Parrot kit ...any ideas to check?

I really apreciate your help! Thanks.

Is your stereo an RCD500 or RCD510 ? The mute connection is in a different place on the RCD510.

If the correct mute pin is being used you will see "phone" on the stereo display when a call is in progress. Disconnect the Multican and connect the CK3000 control button - does it work correctly without the Multican ?

"CD ERROR - Service" No CD's for 6 positions and I've it full.
Normally I remove all CD's from any head unit with multichanger before starting installation. If you turn the stereo at an angle the CD's can fall out and jam the mechanism.

RCD500 MP3 with AUX-In from factory

Very strange ...I was playing with it just now and connected again the Mute from Multican to Radio Mute, so now I have again Mutilcan-Radio Mute and Multican-CK3000 Mute and ...voilá ...I see again the message "Phone" at Radio and phone controle volume from steering wheel and "Phone" button at steering wheel also work ...very strange.

First installation done was with only CK3000 evo and it worked just fine ...well I didn't test all but at least the voice recognition I tested and enter Menu.

However, still not 100% ...steering wheel "Phone" pressed quickly start the voice call and I say a name from contacts and it do the call but it doesn't Hang Up on a call and ear a female voice with message "call refuse" or "old refuse".

Do you know why "Phone" button doesn't hang up on a call?

My wife call me and I pressed "Phone" Button for long not to answer call and it worked.

About CD ERROR, I disconnected radio unit from power car cable for 10 minutes then connect and is working fine.

I activated "magic words" in CK3000 evo Menu - "PHONE" and "HANG UP" - "PHONE" works fine but "HANG UP" not working. Will be same problem as the button??

Someone told me that inside Multican there is a multichoice pins in order to select steering wheel type buttons. Do you know this is true?

Is it possible and easy connecting CK3000 Evo+Multican without Quadlock telemute adapter? Peraphs it works better together?!?

Thanks man!

EDIT: Full test done today and everything is fine!!! Also make calls and hang up calls with MAGIC WORDS: PHONE and HANG-UP

The MultiCan has no switches to set - it is all done in software. The MultiCan checks which switch you have pressed when first installed and then automatically configures itself.

Call Answer - hold Tel button for about 1/2 second, then release.
Call End - hold Tel button for about a second then release.
Private mode - when on a call push Tel button briefly - it will then go back to phone and disconnect from CK3000. Push again to re-connect.

Voice Recognition - when not on a call briefly press Tel button. Speak after beep.

Would not recommend recording the "Hang Up" or "Phone" keywords as these cause erratic operation - random dialing and call termination.

Would check connectors for poor/loose fit as might be source of intermittent fault. How old is the MultiCan unit ? Older versions require a software update.

Everything is fine. I supose there was some wrong interpretation from steering wheel can signals by Multican and with the resets I done to it solve problem as connections were well done.

Also Magic Words seems working fine but your tip about it was important.

CK3000 Evolution software is 5.10c.

Thanks for your interested!
