Hi there, I am just curious what parts am I able to purchase off other models of VW's (e.g Gti, Jetta, Passat, etc..). I am currently looking for parts to purchase for my eos and I keep seeing gti or other VW model parts and was curious if they were able to fit. Thanks :)

Isabella,

This question has been asked many times since this forum was established - the quick answer is there are many parts that are unique to the Eos and not interchangeable with other VW models. It is also relevant to note the electrical system is complex especially in regard to the roof and its operating mechanism and many repairs require the use of a diagnostic reader to access the vehicle's computer systems when diagnosing and rectifying problems [just search this forum using "Ross-Tech" and "VAS5054" and make sure you have a few spare hours to read the posts] .

You need to establish a relationship with an Eos parts specialist with access to the VW parts catalogue as this is often the only way to find if there are alternative or common parts from other VW models that can be used for repairs to an Eos. You also should try to get as much experience as possible searching this forum for past posts relating to whatever problem you are trying to rectify. All parts unique to the Eos have a part number starting with 1Qxxx...xxxx and other models have similar individual codes for parts unique to them

We have some very helpful members who have self-maintained their Eos and are very helpful with advice in regard to problems posted by other members and the best advice is to seek advice through this forum before attempting repairs that you have not undertaken before.

If you intend to be a serious self-servicing owner, you should consider downloading the specific VW Eos repair manual based on your VIN number for your vehicle from the link below:

You can use an online parts catalogue to look up the various parts for your Eos, then when you find a particular part you can click on "applicability" and see which other cars use it - that way you'll know if they fit.

The body-coloured wing mirror covers, for example, are shared with the Golf, so if you saw chrome ones that fit a Golf GTI, they will fit the Eos. Headlamps are specific to the Eos so you can't swap Golf parts in there.

My 2007 EOS has now become my full-time ride rather than a "summer car". So, in beginning to fix up, I'm looking for various parts, mostly things like window and roof seals/gaskets, etc.

This thread led me to a great online parts catalog...BUT

When I went to Google search for the VW Part (example seal strip #1q0837673d) one vendor told me it was US$65...Is there a list on this forum of parts places that are competitive? That seems like a lot for a rubber strip

You could try searching on oemwolf.com, eBay, or a breaker's yard. Even if there were a list of competitive parts places, in my experience a shop that has a good price on one part will be ludicrous on another. It seems that oemwolf.com is some kind of aggregator that queries a bunch of shops, so that will be a better bet. For some parts you may also want to search ebay.de (German version) and see if the seller will ship internationally.

When the part you need is not specific to the Eos, sometimes Aliexpress comes up good. In my experience this is the case for little things like chrome window switches, wheel nut caps and wiring looms.
