Hi all,

Well i finally got to pick up my new ride today - it's fantastic.

She's a 2007 2.0 TDi Sport, Deep Black with Cornsilk Nappa and the 18" Chicagos.

Plus its a 08 model, so has the mp3 stereo. It also has the ipod adapter and multifunction wheel, which the dealer never noticed.

Well chuffed :)

I'm not sure how it can be an '07 and also be an '08 model. Regardless, if you enjoy driving it half as much as I do driving mine, you will be in 7th heaven.

Happy New Year with your new ride.

New model year cars have always traditionally been introduced midway through the previous year, so anything registered early September onwards (after the factory holidays) can generally be described as the next model year if there have been a few updates/changes!

The MP3 version of the RCD300 is exactly the same as the non MP3 version except it has MP3 in small letters above the CD slot.

I expect the golf has the RCD310 or RCD510, which is the replacement for the RCD300.

Yep that's it - although mine is pretty early for a 2008 model car, it was registered on the 20th July 2007.

It must be different over in the UK in regards to the age of a car. In the US, we also get the new models generally in the fall although a few times, it's been earlier than that.

Regardless, like in your case, over here the car would be sold as an '08 even though it might have been manufactured in '07. Actually, that's exactly what happened with my Eos which I bought in Nov '07. Its an '08 on the title and if I ever sold it, it would be considered exactly like any other "'08".

This rule holds true even if the manufacturer makes some model changes during the year.

Yeah it appears to be getting earlier and earlier. I got my 2009 model EOS in June this year!

It is kind of like magazines - they always come out ages before the date on the cover!!!
