So I've got these little fellas sticking out of my wheel arches. Anyone care to enlighten me as to their purpose? The one pictured is right front wheel.
Scratch protectors?

Not sure why they stick out, but mine and every other EOS is exactly the same!

Just double checked my 2007 and nothing protrudes
like shown in the picture.
Or U.S. spec is just different??

Just throwing in a wild guess, but could it have anything to do with water spray suppression? Is there any reason why VW may feel the need to direct spray off the wheel at this point on the arch?

Mine's a 2007.... But I did notice them... I thought they were't fitted properly until I saw a couple more EOS's at the dealer which were the same... Have seen some parked up the same too.. Maybe it's a London thing!

I've got 18" Chicagos and I've got the 'things'.

By the way, what can we call them. Don splash guards?

Well, how about Splash Guards, Splash Deflectors or Arch Extensions?

Hmmmm, I have them AND the 18" Chicagos....

Interestingly, I have one theory... In the UK, there is a law for the MOT which stipulates the wheelarch must overhang the wheel for a number of milimeters.... On my Smart Car, there were little overhangs with the big wheels for MOT purposes, perhaps that's what these are!!

Looks like a winner here. I used to have an X5 with the 20'' wheels, these came with the arch extensions as they were so wide 325's at the rear..

Dont make no sense, the 18" wheels are 235 same as the 17" which dont have the 'things'. The mystery thickens!
