What awesome software! No CEL or fault codes to investigate (it is a new car, after all), but I had fun tweaking a few things. After installing a euro headlight switch, I turned off the DRLs and turned on the parking lights. Also turned on the remote window up/down and sunroof close functions. Nice to be able to roll down the windows a few steps ahead of getting in the car, with the hot weather approaching.

I have been wondering how easy it would be to turn off the headlamps as DRLs and use the fog lights as DRLs. Ideally, I just wanted to make the little rectangular lights next to the grille the DRLs but was told that couldn't be done. Not too far from you in Chesterfield, VA if you are able (willing) to do any of these changes with me.

OK for the uninitiated can you tell me what VAG-COM is and does?

I'd like to be able to open and close the windows remotely as also, I believe, there is a setting for making the headlights come one for 30 secs once you've locked/unlocked the car?

Thanks

VAG-COM is the VW/Audi diagnostic software and cables sold by Ross-Tech:http://www.ross-tech.com/ I bought the Micro-CAN interface to use on my wife's Eos. The full Eos application chart is here: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/applications/eos.html

This stuff isn't cheap (250USD for the Micro-CAN), but it allows you to diagnose trouble codes, as well as tweak things like DRLs, remote window operation, etc. There's some tips on Ross-Tech's website, but there's a more thorough listing in this thread over on a Golf forum (the pdf file is in the first posting):http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7410

www.VWVortex.com has a very active VAG-COM specific forum as well.

I think the headlight on function when locking/unlocking the car may be what's called "leaving home/coming home", but I'm not positive as I haven't researched it myself.

I do admit I enjoy working on our vehicles, and VAG-COM is another great tool to have. I thought I'd mention it on this Eos-specific site since some folks may not be familiar with it.

Leaving home/coming home is programmed using the MFD information display in the vehicle itself in my Lux. (Under convenience settings)

The dealer that I bought mine from told me that if I wanted them to I could have them set the car to roll the windows down by remote. I'm pretty sure they'll do this for you free of charge.

And the coming home/leaving home light settings can be changed through your settings menu but this feature is only on the Lux model for US 2009... don't know where you are or which model you have, Pen.

Sorry for resurrecting this.

I'm taking my car in for a service and wanted to know what options were available on the convenience pack so I can see what I want them to program when I'm there. (I don't have the convenience pack settings so it needs to be done by them).

I know there's the open/shut all windows option and the lights on /off when unlocking /locking. What are the other options?

Thanks
PEN

I have an auteltech MS509 scanner that works on my Eos, but only for fault codes, live data etc. I had it before I got my Eos but was dubious about connecting it - however, one of the Techs from my local dealer suggested I took it in to them to have a play, which they did. He said it will happily read fault codes including pending ones and reset some settings but he strongly suggested not doing so with it, it also read live data. He then showed me what they use - I want what they've got! Some of the guys there use one made by SnapOn - not sure what model - but he said it will do almost all the functions of the VW approved kit.
