Hi,

After many years of wanting an EOS (well since launch) I am finally about to take the plunge and purchase an EOS, will be aiming to spec it up to the top with all the optional extra's however, I have a question about the DVD Nav unit with DynaAudio.

* I have read that the DVD Nav has a 30g hard drive which I presume will allow me to copy MP3's to it or am I wrong in that assumption?

* Does the unit have bluetooth? If so can I pair it with my mobile for hands free usage?

* What is the SATNAV like? Does it do 3D views or just 2D (which is what I have seen in the screenshots)

* I do like my music and would welcome any feedback from fellow EOS owners who have opted for the 10 speakers - Does it sound any good? And is it worth the extra 2k?

I am hoping one of the regular forum members can advise - Thanks in advance

I have no idea re anything you have asked about but would like to say welcome! :D I have the most basic basic basic one you can probably get but am so happy with it I couldn't care less that I can never find my way anywhere (no sat nav), can't deafen myself with an overpowering stereo (with ipod connectors etc) and I can't light up my feet in puddles using my wing mirrors etc! :p

thanks - the EOS itself is the biggest selling point for me to be honest however as I currently own a Passat with all these features I would feel a little lost without them and unfortunately my sense of direction is abysmal even though I did do especially well in A-Level Geography!

well i've finally done it - gone for the 2.0 TFSI Sport in black, and got Vienna leather, 2 way climate control and 12 way electronic seats thrown in for free, well I say free, they cut the price down by around 2k so it works out to around that for the optional extras oh and I forgot the Autoglym FOC to - They seemed to be pushing hard for me to go for GAP insurance and even cut the cost down from 399 to 299 - any thoughts if any of the forum members see this as a worthwhile purchase? The sad part to all this is they have quoted 16 weeks !!! - How am I going to manage that? Anyone who wants to buy one and lives in Nottingham go to the West Bridgeford branch not Arnold, the service in West Bridgeford is fantastic both pre and after sales......16 weeks though :-(

Believe it or not the 16 weeks will go by quite quickly - I was quoted 14 weeks - and I pick up my new Eos on 1st May. (Okay I admit, it didn't go THAT quickly!)

when did you order your Eos?
I've just checked - I ordered on 20th February, was told 14 weeks but in fact it will be 10 weeks when I pick it up!! So you see - it probably won't even be 16 weeks' wait. But even the wait has been exciting (but very boring for everyone around me!)

With the RNS 510 you can use 20 GB from the HD for MP 3 Music, 10 GB is for the Navigation.
The MP 3 can you take from a SD-Card or CD.

For BT-Audio you need a telefon-integration fom VW ( low ), if you don't have it, there is a alternate.

View Navigation is in 2 D or 3 D

The Dynaudio sounds great ;)

I've decided to opt out for the audio upgrade and transfer my kenwopd double din unit which has sat nav mp3 via memory stick DVD and Bluetooth for my phone to the eos on arrival. I understand that the 8 standard speakers in the eos are reasonable and are more or less the same as the standard speakers in my Passat. So I should be statisfied with it. I just can't wait that long, my wife is already fed up of me going in about it and it's just been a day, another 111 to go!

It took two months to get a bit of carpet sorted out so a whole car....ooooh you're probably talking at least a few more months on top of that! lol Depends on the dealer I guess and how good they are.

Congratulations on your purchase and congratulations on the deal! You really have done well!

Even though mines second hand I had to wait 4 weeks while they sent the alloys for a refurb & I hardly slept. I thought a week in tenerife might help but all the sunshine & the fact that there was a couple of eos's zooming about just made it worse.

16 weeks ! I think I would explode !!

The gap insurance is expensive, I got mine from the dealer too and paid 299, although I now know that you can buy it elsewhere for cheaper but you need the small print.

I dont know if VW has changed the policy but when I bought mine it guaranteed the rrp of the vehicle for 36 months from commencement of the policy.

Having regard to how much vehicles depreciate in the first three years for me it was a no brainer.

Good luck and welcome,

Rob

I think I paid nearer £400 for my GAP insurance, but like you say it's worth it I think. Feel like I've been slightly robbed now though!

finally been provided with an estimated build date (week 27) end of June - anyone know how long it takes them to build the car and send it to the dealers? - I can't wait much longer!!!

Looks like you're in the UK?
The car has to go first to Germany from Portugal which can take a couple of weeks; then it gets shipped to Grimsby (or Sheerness I think) then get distributed from there.

Overall it can be 4/6 weeks but you might be luckier and get it sooner rather than later.
