Hopefully picking my Eos up in the next 7-14 days, will be driving back a fair distance so have a few questions....

can you use the paddles only in S mode or in drive too.... and is there anything i need to wary about driving back technology wise in the car as iv never drove an auto before over a long distance.

I assume everything will be in the same place.... buttons etc, switches....

Thanks

As long as you can get between park, neutral, reverse and drive, I'd just let the car get on with it. That's what I did on my test drive. Everything else just came to hand (indicators etc) as I expected. It's been discussed elsewhere that you leave it in drive when stopped at signals/junctions etc.

I'd spend some time getting the seat adjusted properly before you set off and the mirrors of course.

DSG etc

I agree with BobP for the first few miles.

You cab change gear with either the stick or the paddles.

In D if you use the paddles the box automatically changes if you over or under rev and reverts to full auto mode.

In S it lets you rev later and only steps in when you rev too much.

It really is a fantastic system and you will get around the 43 mpg overall even if you drive it hard.

Enjoy !!!

You will love the DSG. I just leave it in Drive and use the brake at stops. Still have the option to shift gears when I get in that fun mode.

This link has been posted before but could not find it. Explains how the DSG works.

yes but rex at beginning that may be not good idea if u get rollback, how much is this rollback
GB. Leave it in drive & either apply brakes or handbrake. It rolls back because once you stop & apply brakes it changes to neutral automatically so you don't damage the clutches.

Just hold on footbrake it it's for a few seconds or use handbrake if it's for longer - light change etc.
I only tend to use the handbrake for parking.

The DSG is fantastic. Much better than an automatic. Have fun.

Leave it in Drive..........

Just pull the handbrake up as you are going to take your foot off the brake, so you won't roll back!

Once you are practiced, you won't need the handbrake anymore on hill starts...

You need to just practice and develop your own style!

DSG is great ; Paddles are needed top drive up and down moutains!

Hi
Indeed 'D' is the only thing you need at all times, except when parking (P) or towing (N). now, when it comes to steep roads or narrow curves, I do use the paddles a lot or the engine break won't work fast enough...
