Is this normal? If my car is wet on the outside from rain I can't open my windows because the rain will come pouring through the window. It gets all over my window switches. This is so dumb. I wanted to make sure that I am not the only one who feels this way.

Sorry the Eos is what it is, VW did not design rain diverting ridges or gutters into the current Eos top rails. Maybe they will figure something out on the next generation one. Problem is how to do it and still get those clean lines we all love on our Eos.

This is a known issue, most people don't test drive in the rain and do not find out about this until the first rainy day they drive and have to open door or window while car is outside and its raining.

The absence of drip rails on the the Eos may be the result of two factors:

1. The obsession of car manufacturers in keeping the drag coefficient as low as possible to minimise fuel consumption and wind noise - drip rails significantly increase wind drag and turbulence with increasing vehicle speed. The fact that owners and passengers get wet entering and leaving the vehicle when it rains is merely collateral damage. This problem is not restricted to convertibles as sedans and hatchbacks have similar problems if the manufacturer has not been able to divert rainwater away from the door openings when drip rails are not present.

2. The presence of drip rails may create problems with opening/closing the roof due to possible contact/interference with the roof sections. Another potential problem could also be localised "flooding" where the drip rails join as the volume of water collected by the rails overwhelms the capacity of the seals in the immediate vicinity to remain water-tight.
