I think on the turbo, the 'I' should be red. It doesnt say T-FSI. My non turbo just has 2.0 FSI all in silver. The only TSI engine in the EOS range is the 1.4.

Think on the very newest models it now says 2.0T instead but haven't seen one myself.

In Australia we get no badges for engine size!
All we have is an "EOS" on the left-hand side.

We only have a choice between 2 engines anyway (2.0TDI and 2.0TFSI).

Actually I believe future 2 litre turbo petrol versions will be badged "2.0 TSI" rather than "2.0 FSI". Seems no-one knew what FSI meant and even if they did they didn't understand it... T is much more explicit!

Hmmm..... not sure about that. TSI is the indicator of the new generation of turbo charged, and super charged engines. I dont think there is a 2.0 TSI. I know VW do a 1.4 and a 1.8 TSI engine, but i don't think there is a 2.0 TSI

I remember reading a rumour that the 1.8 TSI would replace the 2.0 FSI non turbo model. But it looks like just the 1.4 TSI has been introduced as a replacement for the 1.6 FSI

Out of interest, I googled "FSI" and the early returns give you
Football Streaming Info
Free Spirit International (skiing holidays)
FSI Facilities Managements (you can guess)
Audi FSI engines
Finers Stephens Innocent LLP (yes, it really is a law firm, really)
Football Supporters International network
Fellow, Securities and Investment institute
Skoda FSI engine
Sub-committee on Flag State Implementation

and then, finally
www.volkswagen.co.uk/new_cars/technology_glossary/FSI

ALTHOUGH, don't hold your breath as this link fails

then there are lots of other FSI firms and organisations but VW don't seem to feature - how odd

At a quick glance I can't find anything terribly informative on the VW UK site, but the inference is that it might stand for Fuel Supercharge(r) Injection. No doubt someone on here will know better...

Actually it stands for "Fuel Stratified Injection"!
Anyone know what that means?!

You might be right, but I'm sure I read it somewhere!

For interest the new Scirocco 2-litre Turbo petrol 197 bhp has on the bootlid: "2.0 TSI"!

However, reading the article in this week's Autocar magazine it says:

Quote
The turbocharged 2.0-litre model driven here sits atop the new Scirocco's line-up, producing 197bhp at 6000 rpm and 206 lb ft of torque at 1700 rpm. Despite the apparent on-paper similarities, this engine is not the same as that used in the Golf GTi (and Eos! - NEH). Developed under the codename EA888, it differs from the more familiar EA113 unit in detail in a move that has seen a slight reduction in weight together with an increase in block stiffness for improved refinement.
Unquote

So it's still not supercharged - just turbocharged. Perhaps they're going to fit that engine into the Eos hence the change of badge?

Courtesy of a Skoda article on Yahoo:-

"the FSI direct injection engines utilise a system where the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber. FSI stands for Fuel-Stratified Injection and the engine runs on two cycles, using normal combustion technology above 4,000rpm and stratified injection below 4,000rpm. Direct fuel injection engines have a similar combustion principle as standard petrol engines, but in the FSI mode, a tiny drop of petrol is injected directly onto the top of the specially-shaped piston head, where it combusts with air that is swirled into the cylinder in a precise manner."

As a non-techie, this sounds a bit like the Merc Kompressor technology???

2008 VW EOS in North America

Aloha From Hawaii,

Yes, we are the 50th state. Anyone else from Hawaii? On the version we get, the trunk emblem on the left says EOS, on the right it says 2.0T, thats it.

Absolutely the most fun car I have ever had. I have had 3 BMWS, but since BMW went off the deep end in style and content, I could not see paying 13k more, for something I didn't even like.

I have only seen 1 other on the road, Isomer Blue. Hope they don't discontinue production. They don't even advertise them in Hawaii.

Enjoy,
Lopaka:D

Here is what I pulled off the trunk lid of my 2007 Eos 2.0T when I de-badged it. BTW, you can buy these standard VW chrome plated plastic letters and numbers from http://oempl.us and make it say anything you want it to!
