MODERATOR COMMENT: The following posts have been transferred from another thread on a different topic as they cover a topic of serious concern for many members relating to repairing peeling door trim,

Hi, just removed the front drivers door card to repair the shrinking upholstery
How did you do that? Mine has shrunk along the top and I'm considered options for repair. IMHO no options seem easy to get back the factory trim finish to look as good as before. A heat gun and massage worked for about a year, until the vinyl shrink (Like coastal erosion) came back worse.

Thanks, Both Vids answered a lot of questions for me: I'll add the URLs because the Q&As answer some good questions. I suppose I'm guilty of asking the OP a question out of context with his subject post. Repairing the EOS door card vinyl has raised several past questions and AFAIK nobody has attempted a DIY repair and posted about it? Unless you have any objections, I'll ask Silvershadow to move posts 3-5 to a new topic: Repairing EOS door Card Vinyl and will add more detail if it works for me. [Done]

The OE vinyl is heat shrunk fitted by machine, I saw no DIY way of folding vinyl cloth over the end profile as V.W had done, unless a separate panel was made and seam stitched.

I didn't know how the thickness of the sewn seam could be reduced - he shaved the leather. He used what appeared to be a quality leather, not the type of cheap vinyl samples I've had from Ebay sellers (Q&A gives more detail). Unlike vinyl, leather can be stretched a little with steam and forms better around curves and corners.

He used plastic sheet to make a pattern for the cut out and stitching, then thinning the leather ends before sewing he got a really neat sewn seam on the end panel.

Fixing the cards back together: I wondered about short button head self tapping screws, but didn't know what depth I would have to work with before puncturing vinyl on the other side? Q&A says what screws were used.

I shall have my cards off when the weather picks up. I also want to fit mid range speakers in the empty slots. I've got a couple of passive Xovers to play with.
