Sounds a bit iffy? There are plenty of websites with fantastic marketing info that want your money, but it's what goes on behind that counts.

I'm just getting p*ssed off with Ebay at the mo. Many sellers listing on Ebay are using Ebay as 'Facilitators'. When you try to contact a seller about a problem, non arrival of items, tracking info held at shipped but nothing moving, or returns, they say 'Oh that's Ebays problem, we (The seller) ship all our stuff to their warehouse and non-delivery, damaged goods on arrival, or not what you ordered is their problem! I also see Seller payments are now going to 'Ebay Commerce' not directly to the seller. I see an interesting Distant Selling consumer law case challenge coming up soon.
That has not been my experience and I've been on ebay since it started. All of my transactions have been directly with the seller or buyer.

I too have been on eBay for a long time. (18+ years - 7000 feedback - no negatives/neutrals)
I get my payment within 24 hours of a sale direct to my bank account.
If something doesn't arrive from a seller, a refund is issued within a timely manner too.

Not sure I could say the same if I ordered something from an Asian website, and had to wait weeks just to get to the "estimated delivery" date before opening a case with a seller who doesn't speak English very well...
Yeah, the items that cost $5.00 and ship for free are probably coming from Asia and taking a month to get here.

Too bad ebay does not let funds go to your Paypal account (which they used to own). Had to open a separate checking account in order to sell on the site. Don't want them messing with my primary checking account that my wife usually maintains. The ebay fees are pretty steep now, as is most shipping. I'm finding that it is becoming a poor proposition.
