Having successfully deployed yesterday, later roof hung up. When I closed the roof it stopped and hung up after the moonroof section had correctly mated with the windhield frame section. The roof switch went dead, as did the electrical and the key-activated door locking mechanism. However, the moonroof remained functional, by using the (otherwise dead) roof deployment toggle switch.

Also, the driver's side fairing cover that opens, raises and rotates to allow the inner roof section to lift out of the trunk freely will not open and appears to be stuck. The passenger-side fairing is open and extended but stopped at opening.
MY dealership mechs are looking into the problem, but scratching their heads. I suggested a bad fuse, but they aren't in agreement - but have no other ideas.

Any thoughts from this readership? Fuse? EOS 2007 Komfort, DSG tranny, no leakage or probs up to now.

Make sure you don't have water filling up in the trunk where the spare tire is and that it shorted out the hydrautic long story short mine did the same thing and I am in the middle of a lawsuit with the dealer because they claim it's not under the warranty

The "driver's side fairing that opens, raises and rotates", from now on referred to as "the side flap", is actuated by a Bowden cable from the trunk's main hinge. If it fails to open or close it will stop the roof's operation due to an implausible value from sensors nr. 9 or 12. A Bowden cable is nothing more than a bicycle's brake cable. This one in particular is fixed to the main hinge of the trunk by a plastic clip acting as a mechanical fuse. It occasionally lets go of the cable for no good reason. On the side flap's side the actuating spring is also held by a small safety clip, which may fall off.
Do check for water in the trunk on a regular basis. It may get to the point where the roof's electronics are under water.

Mine did this a few weeks before we parted company. It turned out to be a broken wire in the upper part of the roof that was moving or breaking contact whilst the roof was opening or closing. On the first occasion a mobile VW technician closed the roof and on the 2nd occasion I left it at the dealer for them to sort

I had something very similar to this but it was the right hand side flap that just moves sideways; the cable operating it broke. It was, of course, a gloriously hot sunny Saturday morning but I drove the Dealer and they were able to do a temporary fix until they could get the new part, which arrived and was fitted by the following Thursday. But it did mean I couldn't open the roof in the meantime, on the hottest weekend of the year! Cost about £350 though... Rather expensive cable... (most of that was labour of course).
