I suppose its theoretically possible to fit a universal roof rack to the Eos but we are looking at a roof with 360 odd moving parts if any became damaged as a result of you putting a rack on then VW would not be happy when you stroll into the dealers with a fault. :(
How did this happen? You fitted a what !!!
I would borrow a friends car with a fixed roof or pay someone to bring the kayak to you, much less risky :)

Or you could actually kayak the kayak to the kayak's new resting place?!?! lol :)

I personally wouldn't risk fitting anything to the roof...

It is not possible to fit a roof rack to the Eos due to the load limitations on the roof. Came up with a similar problem when I wanted to transport my bikes and ended up buying a campervan with a cycle rack :)

I looked at the inflatable rack but I think the problem is that the front of the roof isn't that tightly attached to the windscreen so any stress brought on by the roof rack would more than likely rip off the roof.

Its funny the amount of roof boxes for the Eos that come up in a search.

I'd buy a cheap estate for a couple of hundred and use it instead.

ye i know it wont look cool, but is there a roof rack for the Eos???? as i have to pick up a Kayak (2.6m),

or does anyone have a cunning other idea?

:D
I put a hitch on the back of my car so I can use the small cargo backets & a bike rack.

I would love to know a safe way to transport a kayak? Since the one I wants weights only 40 lbs- I don't think roof weight would be an issue-- wonder where I would tie it down in the front and rear? I would use the padded/foam built to move kayaks without roof racks. Comments?

I added a hitch- use with both a cargo basket and bike bike.

What are the load limitations of the roof? A 40 lb kayak is too much? Why would the foam block kayak tie downs not work-- the straps attach to the front and back of the car- not the roof. See Google images for kayak roof foam..

Google lightweight kayak trailer. IF you have a hitch installed, this would seem to be a good way to go. I would think it would be much safer than some rooftop tie down. However, to make this commitment, you would have to have a need to transport a kayak(s) several times a year.

Roof rack?

You gotta be kidding right ?

My recommendation is rent/borrow a car with roof racks. The Eos roof is not designed to weight bear.

I have a kayak too and basically kept my old car for this kind of activity.
