Roof stuck in closing cycle

Hello, I am a newbie in both owning an Eos and posting. I bought a 2009 EOS in February. It has 109000 kms and is in excellent shape except the rear window tinting was all bubbled. I took it to get it retinted.

The tinter opened the roof half way so he could get to the rear window. While he was taking off the old tint when the roof started closing on his own. He panicked and got in the car and started pushing buttons and turned the car off. It stuck with the rear window stuck open 3 inches from closing. The trunk is locked and the windows are stuck down. When you pull the button it displays the following message.

System fault. Serviceshop!, I may have paraphrased a little.

No luck by my mechanic who has some experience.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Seems your top sequence was interrupted. I would start with VCDS and clear the code and see if that takes care of the issue. You may also need to do a reset of the windows, same procedure you would need to do if the battery is disconnected.

If you open the top partially and leave the power on, after a few minutes it will try to complete the opening/closing sequence. For service, I open the top to the position I need it in, then turn the car off. Complete the service, turn the car on and then reposition the roof. This isn't something you would normally need to do often, but when treating the roof seals, it is helpful.

Lift the rear windscreen on to the top of the roof, use a long broom handle and a lot of steady pressure to open the claws on the body that lock the base of the rear windscreen in place, lower the windscreen into place manually, and then it should finish closing. If it doesn’t want to close, it may want to open instead.

If that doesn’t work, VCDS may not do it and you may need a VAS5054 (see link in my signature).

VCDS will perform basic settings functions, so you can command a particular function to move a section of the top in one of two directions, open or close. This will not use any feekback from the sensors though, so it could be dangerous if you don't know what your doing.
